Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now [Secular]?
The liner notes of the first album were put inside an inverted cross, but the band insist that was Warner Bros. doing and they were upset about WB doing that.

I think N. I. B is Sabbath’s most overtly satanic song I am aware of. You’re right, they’re kind of all over the place with lyrics

Idk about Death, but pretty sure Ghost are deliberately using that symbol to refer to satanismChristian Thrash Rules wrote:I know that it's a modern sign for Satanism but it wasn't meant to be. Ghost's logo is a good example. And Death

It's questionable, but it still does seem warning-esque with lines like "now I have you under my power". But yeah, songs like this and After Forever being from the same band can be weird.seth wrote:I think N. I. B is Sabbath’s most overtly satanic song I am aware of. Yeah, I think Death just wanted their logo to look darker.seth wrote:Idk about Death, but pretty sure Ghost are deliberately using that symbol to refer to satanismChristian Thrash Rules wrote:I know that it's a modern sign for Satanism but it wasn't meant to be. Ghost is absolutely representing satanism, whether it's just for the reaction or their really into it doesn't matter. Some of Sabbath were messing with it but I think Geezer had a scary experience with it and they stopped.

N.I.B. isn’t really satanic; it’s just kinda stupid. And the title wasn’t originally meant to be “Nativity in Black.” Here:StevenCressler wrote:It's questionable, but it still does seem warning-esque with lines like "now I have you under my power". I also recommend reading Tony Iommi’s autobiography for more info on Sabbath.

Killer is right to describe funeral doom. Kills with boredom.

If I wanted to be bored, there’s always No More Tears…
Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now [Secular]?
Actually, you might like this release. It’s more on the DM side with some crunchy riffs.
Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now [Secular]?
Better than some I've heard but the production is claustrophobic.

I skimmed through this and saw "production" and "DM" both mentioned and so was confused when I read closer and it was about funeral doom...

N.I.B. is a joke song about the devil falling in love with a woman.
None of the classic Sabbath records have any satanic lyrics. The general framework for those albums is that that there's good and evil and that God represents the good and Satan represents the evil and the songs that touch on this warn against the evil. Master of Reality is pert near a Christian album.

An obscurity of sorts
Temper Temper (US-MD) - Let Me, Tell You, About Me [Demo] (1992)
and their self titled demo is even better
