I don't think it is, but is it controversial that I think Nacho Libre is the best Jack Black movie?(SOR is second)

Superjuice wrote:Shawshank Redemption is the most overrated movie I've ever seen. It's good. but the highest rated movie of all-time on IMDB? Nah.
As prison movies, The Great Escape, Escape From Alcatraz, and Bad Boys (the Sean Penn one) blow away Shimshaw.

The IT movies (both the 1990 mini series and the 2010s films) are better than the book. Yeah, I went there.

Would agree with that. Read a few when I was a teenager like "Salem's Lot" and "The Dead Zone" and while the movies tend to be memorable, the books do not. My mind would wander a lot trying to get through them.BaleMaster wrote:Not really. King has way too much bloat in his books.

Never read a King book, but have heard that IT (the book) some…highly questionable scenes that weren’t included in the movie for obvious reasons

Re: Movie Hot Takes
The Iron Giant is a good movie. I actually recently watched it after having remembered seeing it as a very young kid, but not remembering the name, and looking up “kids movie with giant robot” to find it.
Speaking of childhood memories of movies, there is another one that I haven’t been able to find to this day, and my dad (who I swear watched it with me as a kid) has no memory of it ever existing. I don’t remember all the details, but the movie was animated, had insectoid aliens, and an evil old man who sat in a mechanical mobile chair with metal spider-like legs. He could shapeshift, and at one point said to the kid protagonists “I am your master.” Does this ring any bells for anyone?

I have tried looking up every detail I can possibly remember from it, to no avail

Hate to say it, but my search engine for super specific questions like that is always ChatGPT. If it gives the wrong answer, you'll easily find out

Yeah, just an idea. It's certainly not always helpful. Maybe try reddit or Quora?
Re: Movie Hot Takes
I honestly don’t care enough to find it to create a new account for a website just to ask. Besides, I never want to experience the shame of owning a reddit account

Yeah, there's enough weird people on there that my account existing isn't something I like to advertise

I remember seeing The Iron Giant in theaters when it came out with my grandma. That's a good'un for sure.
Well shoot, now you got me curious about that movie too! It wasn't a movie, but I have in my mind that the bad guy from the Sonic The Hedgehog cartoon walked around in a robot spider thing at some point. Does this guy look familiar?
I too have a mystery movie from my childhood: I remember renting this movie multiple times from a long-defunct video store as a kid, but have since never been able to figure out what it was. It was anime, probably 1980s, and the only bits I remember from it were a) there were these ant-looking robots flying around in outer space and if they got blown up, the head could fly off to escape, and b) at some point the good guys travel to this underground city where everyone drives around in cars with square wheels haha and they're like, "why don't you use round wheels" which was a totally novel idea to the people in the city.

My biggest mystery childhood movie was this one (which I obviously found eventually) https://youtu.be/o_D67IOdqR0?si=M7pBcZ36CYdLrxt7
Re: Movie Hot Takes
Nope, definitely wasn’t Sonic the hedgehog. I guess it’s not entirely impossible that it could have been an anime movie, I wouldn’t have known what anime was at the time. Saw it at some event with my dad when my family was traveling to visit friends in 2005 I think. Maybe at a church, idkKerrick wrote:seth wrote:The Iron Giant is a good movie. Another detail I remember is that the old man accidentally shapeshifted into a giant baby by mistake, before transforming into a dragon to chase the protagonists
