Modern hard rock bands poll
Who's your favorite of these more modern Christian hard rock bands?
As much as you might be expecting me to say Skillet, I'm picking Red, as you might also have heard me rant about Skillet's inconsistensy. Red is my #3 band overall, they've got great melodies, symphonic elements, and some very heavy riffs.

Disciple by far. I like all these besides Kutless. Nothing against them, I just never got into them.

Kutless is my least favorite, mainly because only about 10% of their songs even are hard rock. Still like them though, my favorite CCM band.Pethead wrote:Disciple by far. I like all these besides Kutless. Nothing against them, I just never got into them.
Re: Modern hard rock bands poll
Boring, cookie cutter music wasn't an option so I went Disciple because of the early stuff.

I really love Disciple and have seen them several times.
Skillet would come in as a close second.
I would put Kutless in third place. They would rank higher except for the couple of pop worship albums they did. They are SLOWLY working on some new material with Josiah Prince from Disciple and bringing a new edge to the table for them. I am super excited about that.
TFK would be next. I like their music, but lyrically it can be hard to determine what their songs are about.
Red? I liked their first couple of albums and they really sound the same. I haven't bought anything from them in years.

I'm not at all a fan of Disciple or Red myself. But I really dig quite a bit of Skillet's catalog for the last decade (so I went with them), but over all in this category/era I probably prefer Seventh Day Slumber and Pillar even more.
I also really dig that one Decyfer Down album where they had a different singer (I think it was just called "Scarecrow")

I would have voted Flyleaf if they were on the list. (They are theoretically active again.) Out of these, Red is my favorite. I don't think they are as monotonous as people portray them on this forum.

I like Red, although I’m way behind on their albums.

TFK. Even though I don’t like most modern rock/nu-metal, I really enjoy some of their music. Especially The End is Where we Begin. I may be somewhat biased since they were my first real introduction to heavier music

Yeah I will admit TFK’s lyrics can be kind of silly, a lot of them seem to be generic “tough guy” nu-metal lyrics but without the profanityalldatndensum wrote:I really love Disciple and have seen them several times.

I Get Wicked is probably the biggest example of this (still a great song though), and also E for Extinction (which is one of my favorites lol)seth wrote:Yeah I will admit TFK’s lyrics can be kind of silly, a lot of them seem to be generic “tough guy” nu-metal lyrics but without the profanityalldatndensum wrote:I really love Disciple and have seen them several times.

I’m not very familiar with any of the modern bands. I suppose they may have some good songs…
I did once like the first album from Grammatrain. But that was 20 something years ago.

I used to dig me some Grammatrain, mainly their sophomore album Flying.
Might have to bust that one out soon.

Kutless is the only one I’m not a fan of, but that’s more because I haven’t listened to much from them.

For me, they're in last place because 80% of their discography is just mellow P&W-style pop rock.Pethead wrote:Disciple>Skillet>TFK>Red>Kutless
