Battle of the Debuts: Detritus vs Seventh Angel
Perpetual Defiance or The Torment?
I enjoy both, but I think The Torment has slightly stronger songs overall.

I have never heard either, so it's back to YouTube to check these out. Which songs/albums should I start with these bands?

Seventh Angel.
I never had any Detritus albums… but from what I’ve heard, I definitely like Seventh Angel a lot more.

Seventh Angel, but Detritus is a very good effort as well. Both have awesome cover art, I would love those on a t shirt!

I’d start with the debuts (The Torment and Perpetual Defiance). But don’t neglect the follow-ups (Lament for the Weary and If But for One). These branch out from straight thrash and are quite good.Sevenoneself wrote:I have never heard either, so it's back to YouTube to check these out. Which songs/albums should I start with these bands?

The Torment is classic. I loved it at the time and still love it now.
Perpetual Defiance, even when I was a young, teenage music slob who just wanted anything that would thrash, I couldn't stand. Taste the Blood was somehow awesome, and If But for One was pretty solid, but have never understood how anybody could listen to PD.

Seventh Angel
The Torment is incredible. They could Thrash with any body.

Seventh Angel.
Their formula of mixing death, doom and progressive elements into their thrash metal cauldron was brilliant from the start.
REALLY wish they would have stuck around.

I like Subliminal Division from Perpetual Defiance. Seventh Angel Debut is solid and unique thrash and Lament is one of the best metal albums created period.

That album is an emotional and spiritual experience. Brilliantly crafted.

I loved it for many years. I still like it now. The instrumental intro is amazing. Whenever I hear it, it always gets stuck in my head for a long time!
Almost the perfect blend of Sabbath and classic Metallica.

Well time to stay in the minority.
Perpetual Defiance hands down. Didn't own The Torment for the longest time but bought the remaster and have only heard it twice since it released and have been trying to sell it since.

Love them both equally, although I think the Torment is more unique so it should take the prize. Perpetual Defiance nods heavily to Xentrix.
