Hate U2. Normy music for Normies and "Normies"= most people that ever lived. Thus I hate them.TZ75 wrote:Dustofyears wrote:No. I like all of them (except the u2 song)

Wouldn't say that, but U2 actually isn't bad. Joshua Tree especially has some great songs.Pethead wrote:That’s another great one.

Dustofyears wrote:Mentioned this before— I went to a U2 concert because my girlfriend at the time wanted to see them so I tagged along (Fleetwood Mac was the other one ) and Maaaan— what a snorefest, I literally fell asleep and nearly RIP'd, death by boredom and cringe (hate using that internet buzz word "cringe" but there's no other word for it) overload. Bono is just unbearable the guy thinks he is the voice of God I kid you not. Kanye West was their support "band" lolz...just shoot me in the head already, I was right in the heart of NORMSVILLE!!!
By the time you saw them in concert, they were old multi-millionaires going through the motions! LOL
The early New Wave stuff (Boy, War and October) had more gusto and a lot of melody. Also, I like different kinds of genres of rock. I’m a big 80’s pop rock guy and I’ll even admit to liking some 80’s rap (the Run DMC era).
“Dark Wave” is my new thing. It wasn’t always called that, but since it’s basically old 80’s industrial and goth oriented stuff, they lump it all together.

At least VR has some good guitar solos. U2 sounds like music written to be played in the background in the dentist’s officePethead wrote:That’s another great one.

Re: Rank the Believer Albums!
I had a couple of their earlier albums way back when I was still listening to Micheal Jackson and what not: Rattle n hum and boy and Joshua tree, Sunday bloody sunday, war etc. So I understand their influence in music history and respect that for what it is etc, even before I went to said concert. Heck I knew more about them than my girlfriend at the time who wanted to see them.
BY the way Vengeance rising guitar work is amazingly underrated.

I like some of their music (especially the early stuff) but as for their supposed status of being some "guiding light of spirituality" in pop.culture, nuh uh. Very Woke too.

But I still like the early stuff up to Joshua Tree. I happen to like the simplicity and focus on melody.
The Edge’s famous delay effect on guitar is iconic. I’d rather listen to him that Tom Morello.

Jackson employed amazing studio musicians and was totally controlled by his manager. I'll give props to U2 for writing their own stuff.seth wrote:Even Michael Jackson is better than U2. And I’m not a fan of MJ at all
