I listened to him a bit lately and honestly, it sounded like modern Dream Theater. Portnoy's drum style and all.
Re: Recent Purchases (Christian)
Yeah, I struggle with the "lighter" side of Neal not sure why but "lighter" stuff really needs to grab me lately or no go

I think his best was Similitude...also Sola scriptura ... if you don’t have Similitude you should get it first and then get ‘The great adventure’ ...as it was a follow up. Both are good.mothy wrote:not a "huge" neal morse fan yet but its growing on me. Looking to purchase one for now and down to Solo Scriptura or The Great Adventure. Whats the recommendations

Heh, I also have those phases. There are other go-to-bands as well, but yeah, I know what you meanAmmocas wrote:Andreas89, whenever I’m stuck on what to listen to with so much to choose from, Neal Morse is my go to ... it’s like a default setting! All good stuff! Like your first cup of coffee in the morning...lolAndreas89 wrote:Ah, Neal Morse and Holy Tide in the previous two posts. Gives warm feelings to my heart.
I'm still waiting for a new album to arrive at the media store where I ordered it...

You mean you already own those two albums? If not, Sola Scriptura is better than The Great Adventure and Similitude, so I'd go with that.mothy wrote:not a "huge" neal morse fan yet but its growing on me. If you do have those, I'm inclined to say One. Not exactly the heaviest (although it has heavy moments), but I'd say it is his most "epic" record. And my favourite Neal Morse album.

A few of you might be proud: I FINALLY ordered Holy Tide - Aquila. Though the cheapest option was from Russia so it'll be a little while before I get to enjoy it...

Unfortunately not. With shipping, it was ~$20 on Bandcamp. I ordered mine from Russia for ~$14.

Aquila was on my radar ever since its release. I put it on my list recently after checking out 2019 releases I didn't buy yet.

Re: Recent Purchases (Christian)
I ordered from Girder Music the below on colored vinyl on November 17:
Angelica self titled debut
Angelica - Rock, Stock and Barrell
Shout - In Your Face
Zion - Thunder From the Mountain
These were supposed to ship on December 19 but Greg Hayes mentioned on Facebook that there are delays and he was revamping the Angelica and Shout vinyl to make the product better. He said they are shipping in February.
I ordered from ROXX Records during the black Friday sale:
Bloodgood - In the Trenches of Rock soundtrack CD
Guardian/Whitecross - Revival red vinyl
Sacred Warrior - Master's Command black vinyl
I received this last week

Re: Recent Purchases (Christian)
(Temple Of Blood will appreciate this.) I finally got around to ordering those four Warlord albums off eBay:
Deliver Us
And The Cannons Of Destruction Have Begun...
Rising Out Of The Ashes
The Holy Empire
They're all the 2-CD remastered High Roller Records versions. I can't wait until they arrive! I've been in the mood for this type of music for a while but nothing I have quite fits the bill.

I know those were expensive but I think you will get plenty of plays out of them!
Warlord are a one of a kind IMHO.
That first album is an all-time metal classic in my book.
Re: Recent Purchases (Christian)
Cool! Yeah I'm really looking forward to cranking 'em loudly. How would you rank Warlord's albums?
Also, what are your thoughts of Lordian Guard?
