Nomad Son news.
Bad news, they lost their drummer.
Good news, they are going to replace him and carry on so here's hoping for new music.

In the meantime though, at least we have a new Sacro Sanctus album! Have you heard it? It's very good.

I've listened to some of it, his vocals get tiring to me. Too Lemmy like for me.

Albert Bell is the founder/bassist of Nomad Son (and Forsaken) and Sacro Sanctus is his solo project. It's got a fairly different feel than Nomad Son, but since everyone needs more Maltese epic doom metal in their lives, you can't go wrong with anything Albert touches.

This sounds good. Whatever my wife thinks, I agree that everyone needs more Maltese epic doom metal in their lives.
I'm almost afraid to ask but this was put in "Metal, Rock & Hard Rock," not the "Christian" sub-forum (that's why I missed it) so where on the continuum of Christian-to-non-Christian does this fall?
Bands like this need US distribution.
Pylon is a little slower but they've also been filling this void in my life.

Re: Nomad Son news.
Here's what Albert Bell said in and interview: No, Nomad Son is not a Christian band. That said, Albert Bell, the groups lyricist, noted the following in a 2008 online interview with Metal-Temple.com: “Yes, there is certainly a Christian outlook permeating Nomad Son’s lyrical vision. This does not mean that we are set on a mission to evangelize humanity or anything like that, or that we are tied to a specific religious denomination intent on converting the world. However, (that) said, I personally value the basic tenets of Christendom (solidarity, compassion, belief, tolerance etc.) highly and shall not shy way from pronouncing my faith, even if this means that some people might not like it.”

Re: Nomad Son news.
BR, do you have the link handy for that review? I'd like to read the rest of it.
With regard to Sacro Sanctus, I put it in the secular section because it's not a "Christian project" - even though the musician is a Christian. Unlike Nomad Son or Forsaken which have specific biblical themes, Sacro Sanctus is more historical/fantasy oriented. I asked Albert about it a while ago when his first album was getting released (I think in regards of whether I should add Sacro Sanctus to Firestream) and he replied,
The lyrics to Sacro Sanctus are totally clean and very interesting, since he blends documented historical events with his own fictional twist, though you won't hear any explicit praise songs or whatnot. I hope that helps clear things up!
Also, Pylon is quite good. It took me a long time to get into them, though now they get pretty regular play from me. And while I'm spending your paychecks... do you know Dawn Of Anguish? The drummer from Forsaken is also in this band. They only have this one three-song EP but it's really good!

Albert Bell wrote:...Nomad Son and Forsaken you could say are doom bands that remain strongly inspired by Christian theology and scripture...with this project..my approach in the lyrics is somewhat different...it documents a fictional/historical tale related to the knights templars and their adversaries in the crusades - the fatimids...the first part of the album treats how the elite of the fatimid dynasty conjure and use dark forces in their rise to power and domination only then to be met with the Templars and other holy orders in the middle east...the knights of St John and the knights of Outremer...so there is a clash of opposing forces on the album if you will...the clash between darkness and light...which is always and perhaps the most over-arching concept in my lyrics..

That does sound good. I'm leery of ordering since the nothing by them has been updated in over a year and the Paypal checkout doesn't work. I guess you'll have to spend my paycheck elsewhere.

Ah bummer. Well you get to hold on to your money for now I guess since there wasn't much else in the way of good epic/trad doom that came out this year.
