New Judas Priest album "Firepower" coming in 2018

Judas Priest announced on their official Twitter page yesterday (December 30th 2017 if you are reading this later on in life) that they will be releasing a brand new album slated for 2018. Rumors have it that the new album will be released next May.

Blabbermouth reported a release date in March of 2018 a few days ago. Been looking forward to this for a year now.

If it's on par with Redeemer of Souls then i'm in.

I heard short glimpse of Firepower and after those seconds I´m totally in for this!

Sounds like it's on par with Painkiller. This is some heavy stuff!

I have very low expectations for this album.  I thought RoS was their worst album they've ever released and I never appreciated how much KK contributed to songwriting until he was gone.

That snippet reveals the drum sound, which is exactly what everybody else goes for in drum production in metal the past 7-8 years.  Disappointed that, Scott Travis, the virtuoso of metal drumming (the best of the west and the best of the rest), has reduced himself to this.

Well, we all have opinions, but personally I think RoS was a step in the right direction, as I was kind of disapointed in the other "comeback" albums (Angel of Retribution and Nostradamus).

Makes sense though because Andy Sneap is on board and does all his drums like this.  And everyone else in the metal world copies him.  I'm sure Travis had no say-so.

I like that new song. The rhythm guitar just chugging along under the whole thing sounds really good. The solos are also solid. Much of Redeemer Of Souls left me bored. This sounds more promising.

RoS was pretty dang good for guys in the twilight of the their career (never thought they could put out such strong metal so late in life).  I dug the return to the Sin After Sin guitar sound and putting a modern tech spin to it - great idea; that album often gets left off the Priest discussion of good JP releases.  Ironically, Roger Glover produced it, but he stated they wouldn't listen to any of ideas when recording it - hah.

Ok when listening to that new song I got a bit distracted and when Rob started singing I almost expected to hear Josh Kramer. Reminds me of a Hell Blade track.
