Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
Official Statements from Chris Broderick:
http://chrisbroderick.com/blog/2014/11/25/i-am-leaving-megadeth/
Shawn Drover exits band as well:
http://www.metalinjection.net/latest-news/megadeth-drummer-shawn-drover-quit-the-band
Well, I'm pretty bummed out about it even though Super Collider wasn't the best entry of the Megadeth saga, I did enjoy it regardless of the negative feedback that other fans have given it. I can't help but feel that Mustaine must have finally pushed them to the limit with his "hard to get along with" personality. That or maybe these 2 really did want to start their own thing and left on good terms... Ehhh, I doubt it, haha. Really is a shame though, this IMO was the best lineup since Nick Menza and Marty... No, I take it back. The best lineup before Nick and Marty was Lomenzo, Drover, Broderick and Mustaine , Sorry David!

Half of Megadeth, eh...if it was a company, Mustaine owns at least 51% of the shares
It is too bad. They are very good players.

Haha, what about David Ellefson? Would he be getting paid under the table?Friday13th wrote:Half of Megadeth, eh...if it was a company, Mustaine owns at least 51% of the shares

Ellefson left the band for years though! Now it feels like he can drop anytime too and I can't shake the feeling that we will be reading an article about him making his departure as well.Temple of Blood wrote:The half that is usually gone!

Re: Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
Meh, I'm not too heartbroken - Broderick plays like a talented robot. He is more suited to another project like Jag Panzer anyway. Endgame was pretty killer but everything else was hit or miss. I'm ready for some new Megadeth blood...

Well the half of Megadeth that is gone is good but the half that is left could easily find two more Christian members and be a full blown Christian band

Re: Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
I see the title and keep changing the words to a Sonata Arctica song to be "Half A Megadeth Band" instead of "Half A Marathon Man." 'Tis already a silly song, but now it's sillier in my head.

Not really a big deal. Dave will find a killer replacement I'm sure.

Re: Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
Megadeth has been a revolving door of musicians with exactly TWO lineups that have done more than a pair of albums/tours together, since day one. Dave and Junior will soldier on regardless, and we MIGHT get a decent album from the turmoil. if you actually look at the discography, a stable lineup seems to detrimentally affect the creative output....

The who left took the Mega part with them. Now the band is just known as Deth.

More bad news for Megadeth or maybe just for Mustaine, this was posted in his official and the Megadeth official Facebook pages:

Sad stuff, man.

Wow sad news, I wonder what happened? Sounds like a future Dateline story.
As for Deth, I am sure they will march on:
Former Members:
- Gar Samuelson – drums (1984–1987)
- Chris Poland – guitar (1984–1987)
- Chuck Behler – drums (1987–1989)
- Jeff Young – guitar (1987–1989)
- Nick Menza – drums (1989–1998)
- Marty Friedman – guitar (1990–2000)
- Jimmy DeGrasso – drums (1998–2002)
- Al Pitrelli – guitar (2000–2002)
- Glen Drover – guitar (2004–2008)
- Shawn Drover – drums, percussion (2004–2014)
- James LoMenzo – bass (2006–2010)
- Chris Broderick – guitar, backing vocals (2008–2014)
Having revolving members is nothing new to this band, as long as the main 2 are there.

Word is that Ace Frehley and Peter Criss are joining Dave Mustaine and Dave Ellison, (spelled wrong i am sure) and forming a band called Kiss Of Deth

I think we're going to hear that Menza and Friedman are rejoining and there is going to be a 25th Anniversary Rust In Peace Reunion Tour next year.

Re: Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
Friedman's career in Japan is too happening to slug it out with Dave for another tour.
If you haven't been listening to Marty, you've been missing out, especially if you want industrial metal to make a comeback.

Re: Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
I don't think Marty or Nick are coming back or else they would've been back years ago.
Re: Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
UMMM No I believe it was Peter Criss that spilled the beans on him and Ace and the two left in Megadeth forming the band Kiss Of Dethmr_scary wrote:I think we're going to hear that Menza and Friedman are rejoining and there is going to be a 25th Anniversary Rust In Peace Reunion Tour next year.

Re: Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
This would have been better released on April 1. It is obviously a joke. As for Menza, I don't see him ever returning.lhversaw wrote:UMMM No I believe it was Peter Criss that spilled the beans on him and Ace and the two left in Megadeth forming the band Kiss Of Dethmr_scary wrote:I think we're going to hear that Menza and Friedman are rejoining and there is going to be a 25th Anniversary Rust In Peace Reunion Tour next year.

Re: Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
Especially after Mustaine' "bringing Menza and Friedman back is like putting bad teeth in your mouth" comment. I think that pretty much sealed any kind of hope or chance of these 2 ever writing songs with the Dave ever again. Would be interesting if they started a band with Dave Ellefson with a different lead singer/rhythm guitar player. Whatever happened to the James Lomenzo/Menza band? Everyone really wants Friedman to join that band. I personally think that is a solid lineup. I have mad respect for Ellefson but Lomenzo was hands down the best bass player Megadeth has ever had. Him joining up with 2 of better half of Megadeth would be an explosion of metal. Especially if Chris Broderick or even Chris Poland joined as a rhythm or lead guitarist.MikeInFla wrote:This would have been better released on April 1. It is obviously a joke. Re: Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
I don't think Mike Portnoy is too busy to turn this down.

Re: Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
Menza and Friedman aren't coming back. Friedman is doing fine on his own and Menza tried to rejoin in 2004 but was fired again.
I thought about Portnoy too. But when you read the DT biography, why would you want to deal with a drummer like him who thinks he's in charge? Especially if you're Dave Mustaine?
In my dreams it would be Andy LaRoque and Dave Lombardo.

I really wouldn't mind another return by Chris Poland. I really enjoyed his playing in Killing, Peace Sells and The System Has Failed.
