Re: New Megadeth guitarist?
He has been serving as the guitarist since Kiko stepped out due to family matters. I came across information stating that Kiko also recommended bringing Marty Friedman back to the management. I suppose this confirmation from Dave finally puts an end to the Marty Friedman rumor.

He's been fantastic.
When he initially stood in for Kiko a lot of people were surprised of how well he played and how great the stage presence and overall chemistry between the rest of the band were.

I’ll judge the next album by the songwriting. Although Marty coming back would rule.

Rust in Peace (part 2) with Marty Friedman back in the band would be awesome!
But then again… Rust was lightning in a bottle. It can’t be replicated.

Marty is not coming back, this has been well-documented and was discussed in the Rust in Peace book.
He makes just as much solo in Japan as he would in Megadeth so for him there is no reason to rejoin or this would've happened when Broderick/Drover were forced out (they were both told they would no longer be paid, then both quit). This is in the book.

Re: New Megadeth guitarist?
If Marty did something in the studio with Dave it would be a one-off or like his contributions to Where Rust and Moth Destroy, just adding solos to songs remotely. Otherwise, it's just a pipe-dream. Marty loves his Japanese life.
Hopefully, Teemu is a more emotionally-driven guitar player and not just a technician. He hasn't had that since Al Pitrelli.

Re: New Megadeth guitarist?
Chris Poland came back just to do solos on the TSHF album. That's really all Megadeth needs. They could hire him just for that. Nobody wants to hear Teemu more than Marty.
I still stand by TSHF and Endgame. Those are top-tier Megadeth albums, solos, songs, and all.

Nice to see someone else acknowledging Al Pitrelli. Rude Awakening live DVD is great! Too bad Dave's voice at some point falls completely apart and the singing becomes terrible squeaking but he and Al had a terrific chemistry on stage.
For me the last time the second guitarist in Megadeth was actually interesting was Al Pitrelli. When I saw Teemu play I felt things hadn't been this interesting since Al was in the band. Yeah Kiko is good and I was pretty excited for him to become the new Megadeth guitarist because I have fond memories of early Angra, but somehow I didn't end up getting the excitement I wished for when I saw him live. But with Teemu it was clear as a day that now there's something on stage that had been missing for over 20 years.
