Re: Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
I really haven't heard much freedom of expression on drums since Gar Samuelson, so that's why I'd want a drummer who thinks he's boss. It may not last, but be fun for a little while.Temple of Blood wrote:
I thought about Portnoy too. But when you read the DT biography, why would you want to deal with a drummer like him who thinks he's in charge? Especially if you're Dave Mustaine?

Re: Half Of Megadeth, Gone.
Poland was considered to come back twice (in 1990 and 2004) but didn't "look the part" i.e. he looks like a college professor teaching liberal arts classes, not a rock star.
I like Gar but Menza was a much better fit for the RiP material than Gar would've been. He's just not a hard-hitting drummer as much as I love the first 2 MD albums.
Portnoy is never coming back to DT because he is such a pain to deal with. The musical ideas he tried to push didn't make the band better. But he did join Overkill live once so he's probably up for a good paying thrash gig.
Lombardo has been considered/auditioned twice for the band and I think now the stars could align and he could join. He is very outspoken in interviews too so that is probably why he won't last long (if they don't fight over money first). Ellefson is more diplomatic and that is probably one reason he stayed so long.
