Blues based metal / hard rock???
I have most of the old stuff in this genre, but is there anything new Christians releases in the past few years that is blues based metal / hard rock similar to the style of Whitesnake, Dokken, Slaughter, Rainbow, Tesla, Europe, Bad Company, Guns & Roses, Warrant, Skid Row, etc, etc ???
This is my style as a vocalist so I'm always on the look out for new Christian stuff along these lines
Here's a few I've found in the past few years:
The Brave, Gravedigger (2022)
The Brave, Evies Little Garden (2021)
Signum Regis, Flag Of Hope (2021)
Saint, The Calf (2019)
Panorama, Around the World (2018)
D.O.G. Disciples of God, Unleashed (2017)
Harmony, Remembrance (2015)
These guys are pretty good:

Re: Blues based metal / hard rock???
In this one the vocalist isn't Christian but he's a guest vocalist on a project that is supposed to be by a Christian

This one isn't Christian but is positive sounding and features Joe Lynn Turner who is one of my vocal influences from back in the day

I don't think these guys were Christians but they may be heading in that direction with this tune:

The lead singer on this one says he's a Christian...

Not sure if these guys are Christian or not, but it's a positive sounding song.

Re: Blues based metal / hard rock???
One of my favorite albums is from a little-known Swedish band called Mercury Fang. They are sometimes described as "Christian" but I would describe them more as "Christian friendly."
They released two albums on Rivel Records (label headed by Christian Rivel from Narnia, Audiovision, and DivineFire). They have disbanded since this release ("Ignition," their 2nd) and members have now formed a new band called Misth.
Mercury Fang were melodic hard rock with some bluesy Whitesnake / Glenn Hughes / Deep Purple / Prophet "Recycled" elements.

I would also check out:
Reign of Glory
Letter 7
Wytch Hazel
Fear Not album "Fields of Sorrow"
Chaotic Resemblance
Warrior (not the Rob Rock band)
Weapons Of God
Philadelphia's "Warlord" album.
If I think of any others I'll circle back.

Re: Blues based metal / hard rock???
Thanks! I've heard of some of these bands mentioned but others I have not so I'll checl 'em out on Youtube.
It may be cheating, but I found a website where you can put in a youtube web address and download the song in MP3 so it's like getting free music!
I like his guitars but he really needs a better vocalist.
I haven't heard any of his recent stuff so hopefully he has a better singer now

Well, then listening to it at all on youtube would be wrong since nobody is paying for it
It's like recording songs off the radio... if it's for personal use the copyright holder has no claim

Any connection to Locomotive Breath? Same country, connection to Rivel, similar vocals.Constantine wrote:One of my favorite albums is from a little-known Swedish band called Mercury Fang.

You can just click on the "like" button and the youtube algorithm will suggest similar songs/bands. And with youtube music you can create your own playlist of bands in this style (and share it with others).Krich wrote:Well, then listening to it at all on youtube would be wrong since nobody is paying for it

YouTube is an open source platform and if enough people listen, the artist gets paid. Downloading it is against YT policy and U.S. copyright laws. I'm not making this up, you can look it up.

Re: Blues based metal / hard rock???
There's been court cases where it was permissible to record music from the radio for personal use as well as recording TV shows for personal use and copyright laws were ruled to have not been violated.
Since it's for personal use and I'm not sharing or selling anything I'm not violating any copyright laws at all... cause, it's just for personal use so I can drive down the highway and RAWK!

Do you have a smartphone? Like I said earlier, you can just make a playlist of songs on the Youtube Music app and play that while rocking down the highway.Krich wrote:There's been court cases where it was permissible to record music from the radio for personal use as well as recording TV shows for personal use and copyright laws were ruled to have not been violated.

I can also create my own MPS files and add them to my thumb drive that plugs in to my vehicle's head unit which is perfectly legal for personal use.
If this was illegal then those recording movies and TV shows to their Tivo or similar devices for personal use would be breaking the law also but they are not and this is permitted.
They've had court cases about this and if one is using the material for personal use and is not sharing or selling the material, it's not illegal.

If there is an ad attached to it, then someone is paying--the advertiser. Some people pay extra for no ads on YouTube. That also pays. But the paltry piece of a cent per view that the artists get doesn't add up to be very much. Some of that money may have to go to whatever royalty collection company they use like BMI or ASCAP for fees. BUYING the music is still the best way to support the artist for art.

I normally buy, but much of the older Christian music isn't available to be purchased so I make MP3 files from youtube and keep on rockin!

The band is likely defunct (since the lead singer, Justin Murr has passed on), but Liberty N Justice might be up your alley.
