Hate U2. Normy music for Normies and "Normies"= most people that ever lived. Thus I hate them.

I don’t hate all “normie” music, but U2 sounds like boring elevator music to me

U2 was flat-out great up through Achtung Baby, and they’ve had some good ones since too.

Mentioned this before— I went to a U2 concert because my girlfriend at the time wanted to see them so I tagged along (Fleetwood Mac was the other one Rolling Eyes ) and Maaaan— what a snorefest, I literally fell asleep and nearly RIP'd, death by boredom and cringe (hate using that internet buzz word "cringe" but there's no other word for it) overload. Bono is just unbearable the guy thinks he is the voice of God I kid you not. Kanye West was their support "band" lolz...just shoot me in the head already, I was right in the heart of NORMSVILLE!!!

Wouldn't say that, but U2 actually isn't bad. Joshua Tree especially has some great songs.

By the time you saw them in concert, they were old multi-millionaires going through the motions! LOL

The early New Wave stuff (Boy, War and October) had more gusto and a lot of melody. Also, I like different kinds of genres of rock. I’m a big 80’s pop rock guy and I’ll even admit to liking some 80’s rap (the Run DMC era).

“Dark Wave” is my new thing. It wasn’t always called that, but since it’s basically old 80’s industrial and goth oriented stuff, they lump it all together.

At least VR has some good guitar solos. U2 sounds like music written to be played in the background in the dentist’s office

Vengeance Rising, Seth, I think, is a Pethead reference and way of saying (correct me if I am wrong_ I'm having a dig. Either way I find it quite funny.  But really I'm not, I just really hate U2 (especially Bono).

I had a couple of their earlier albums way back when I was still listening to Micheal Jackson and what not: Rattle n hum and boy and Joshua tree, Sunday bloody sunday, war etc. So I understand their influence in music history and respect that for what it is etc, even before I went to said concert. Heck I knew more about them than my girlfriend at the time who wanted to see them.

BY the way Vengeance rising guitar work is amazingly underrated.

I saw an interview with Bono at a Willow Creek church conference years ago.  Bill Hybels asked him some challenging questions about the Bible, his faith, and the Gospel, and Bono had no answers to any of it.  He tried to fudge or joke his way through it.  I lost some respect for him that day.

I like some of their music (especially the early stuff) but as for their supposed status of being some "guiding light of spirituality" in pop.culture, nuh uh.  Very Woke too.

I will admit that Bono is a pompous self-absorbed nitwit.

But I still like the early stuff up to Joshua Tree. I happen to like the simplicity and focus on melody.

The Edge’s famous delay effect on guitar is iconic. I’d rather listen to him that Tom Morello.

I have a confession to make. Despite their horrible politics and rap-metal style, I kind of enjoy some RATM songs musically. Certainly leagues better than U2

Jackson employed amazing studio musicians and was totally controlled by his manager. I'll give props to U2 for writing their own stuff.
