Re: Currently reading?
Thomas a Kempis "Imitation of Christ" came up in another thread as a favorite, and I happened to have it on order.
I have like 4 pages left now, I would rate it "good," but not great. It feels VERY heavy on works/behavior and light on grace, which in some ways can probably be a good corrective to much of our "modern" feel-good no-nothing theology, but still a little off centered to me. I also more or less tried to read it straight through, which I think was a mistake. I would guess the best way to profit from a book like this would be to read one little "chapter" a day in concert with regular scripture reading, which I might try again someday. Again, complaints notwithstanding, I'd give it a "good," certainly it's a long way from "bad." (And I've read plenty of bad!)

Re: Currently reading?
Just finished Doctor Sleep and wow, what a good book. Moves fast too, for a book with 500+ pages. Now that I've read both Shining books, time to check out the movies and see what they changed and what stayed the same and what was improved upon.

Re: Currently reading?
I finished reading I am the LORD, your God (translated from the Dutch title) by Ebenezer Erskine, a very helpful short book with overall the same theology that I was raised with, but with a section answering the foundational questions I had from that theology. That part I was not raised with, unfortunately. But all's well that ends well.
Now I'm into more popular and lighter stuff, at the moment I'm reading Atomic Habits by James Clear.

Rejoice & Tremble by Michael Reeves. It's about how we as Christians should rightly - and joyfully - fear God. This is the next book our church's men's group is going through starting tonight. I got volunteered to lead the study so I gotta really stay on top of the reading hahaha. I'm about halfway through the book and so far it's pretty good.

Re: Currently reading?
Haven't been in here in a while, but haven't been reading as much, either.
Just finished a trilogy called "The Celtic Crusades" by Stephen Lawhead. He's a Christian and they're not quite "Christian" books but his perspective is pretty clear. I'd read another series by him back in my college years called The Song of Albion and remembered thinking they were surprisingly good, so I thought I'd give these a read. Good stories (Crusade-era historical fiction/adventure with slight fantasy elements), although he gets ridiculously wordy IMO. Not bad, but I didn't like them as well as the Albion books (25 years ago anyway!). Hey, if anybody's interested, I'll sell them the whole trilogy for a great price!

Check out Lawhead's Dream Thief. It's a very good sci-fi yarn.

I got to start reading in Fault Lines by Voddie Baucham. Never got far since I either had my mother or my kids around over the past few weeks; I might have to start over

I haven't started it just yet, but the next book our church's men's group is going to go through is Christ Set Forth by Thomas Goodwin. These old puritan books are great; I'm looking forward to this one.

Re: Currently reading?
I'm usually reading multiple books at one time, but my current one that I'm reading most frequently/focusing on is Stephen Nichol's RC Sproul: A Life. It's excellent so far.

I'm not familiar with that one but will have to check it out!
Alldat, it was a good book but there are probably better on the subject (perhaps Pethead's recommendation above). It's a pretty easy read and the content was good, but could have been consolidated to be much more concise. The author referenced John Bunyan's Treatise Of The Fear Of God quite a bit which may be a good place to start too.
