Sepultura
Any fans of this Brazilian Thrash Metal band? At least their early stuff was true Thrash Metal!
I love their album, "Beneath the Remains"!
Let's talk about this great band!

Re: Sepultura
They had a fantastic 3 album run in the early/mid 90's before it all imploded.
Beneath the Remains
Arise
Chaos AD
Roots thru today.....eh, not so much. At this point, they are a shadow of their former selves....

I pretty much agree with everything you said. Those 3 albums are gold though. But yeah ... their newer stuff is okay. Not bad. But not great either.
Soulfly is even worse than modern Sepultura though. Terrible. **shudders**
I even walked out of a Soulfly concert - it was so bad. Sounded like a bunch of static noise. Every song sounded the same. At least Prong was a good opening act, or I would have wasted money.

Re: Sepultura
I saw them open for Ozzy on "No More Tours" (along with Alice In Chains). My brother and I were not big fans of Sepultura.. About 30 minutes into the show my brother leans over and yells "When are they going to play another song?"... "HUH?!?" "When are they going to play another song? They have been playing for 30 minutes and it all sounds like the same song". So while not bad, it just wasn't our thing, we wanted to see Ozzy and AIC.

I enjoy all of the Max-era stuff, Roots the least, although I think Under a Pale Grey Sky is a scorching live album. I'm fortunate to have seen them touring in support of BtR, Arise, and Chaos A.D. and haven't seen them since.

Re: Sepultura
I was a big fan back in the day but they've gone way downhill. Almost as far as anthrax.

Have you heard "Worship Music"? It's a pretty good album IMO.

Never a huge fan of the band as a whole, but I absolutely LOVE Chaos A.D.! Just the sheer power in the songs gets me pumped up for anything! I've never listened to anything else by them... I guess I should remedy that at some point.

Yes, I bought it.
Re: Sepultura
They really were! 1st time Obituary and Sadus supported (still one of the top 5 shows I ever saw); 2nd time Sacred Reich, Napalm Death, and Sick Of It All supported (Max handed me a free T-shirt, as he was celebrating his birthday that day...woo!); last time was with Fear Factory, Clutch, and Fudge Tunnel opening. All great!RavenWolf wrote:xMetalMarkx wrote:I enjoy all of the Max-era stuff, Roots the least, although I think Under a Pale Grey Sky is a scorching live album. Re: Sepultura
HUGE fan of the the run from Beneath The Remains to Roots. After Max left I was out. Last year out of curiousity I did pick up the first album with the new singer, pretty good, but without Max the magic was gone. For me Beneath The Remains and Arise are two of the absolute best thrash albums ever.

I think Igor is one of the most underrated drummers in metal.

Yeah! No doubt!

Watched a show with them recently and they were killing it. They've lost nothing. The new renditions of Morbid and Bestial are top notch too.
