Punk Bands?
I'm looking to expand on my taste in punk. I don't mind if they are Christian or Secular. Give me some good names to listen to! The only punk I know are The Ramones, Rancid, Headnoise, The Clash and Trashlight Vision.

Re: Punk Bands?
Dead Kennedys are a must if you're interested in punk. While the Clash made the best punk album (London Calling), IMO Dead Kennedys are the genre's best band. Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables and Plastic Surgery Disasters are good albums to start with.

Re: Punk Bands?
Suicidal Tendencies are also essential, and if you like Rancid you might like Tim Armstrong's previous band Operation Ivy. As for Christian punk, try One Bad Pig, Crashdog, and even though theyre lighter, early Reliant K and Valuepac

Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Damned, Bad Religion, Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Fear, DOA, The Descenents, ALL, old Bad Brains, The Business, Angelic Upstarts, Cockney Rejects, Sham 69, Buzzcocks, UK Subs...should get you started on old school.
Newer...old Bouncing Souls, NOFX, old Dropkick Murphys, Street Dogs, Born to Lose, Lars and the Bastards, The Briggs, PENNYWISE, 7 Seconds, Screeching Weasel, Anti-Flag, Bracket, Down by Law...many more.
Face to Face - their first three are essential newer punk.

Re: Punk Bands?
Warning about a lot of the bands that I posted - if you care about the content in lyrics then you may want to avoid most of them. I am recommending them on a purely artistically basis.
That said....I find that I can still listen to Face to Face...

If you enjoy satire, the Vandals and the Dickies.
Warning. Some of their stuff is vulgar. I don't listen to those songs anymore.

They pretty much went " metal " after their first two albums though. Their first one is pretty raw. When they brought in Rocky George for the second album, Join the Army, you could start seeing the metal influence. Rocky brought more technicality with his guitar playing, but Join the Army is still a great crossover album.

Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers are probably my fav.

To the Christian list I'd also add Crashdog and The Lead.

Indeed. After Crashdog, Andrew Mandel (sp ? ) formed a folk type punk band called Ballydowse.
I've always seen Andrew as the " Ian Mackaye " of the Christian scene..due to his heavy political views.
