Punk
Any fans of punk here? Im more of a casual fan but i do have my favs:
Ramones
Sex Pistols
Black Flag
Fear
One Bad Pig
Rancid
Millencolin
Green Day
Offspring
Sum 41
Slick Shoes
Ten Foot Pole
Pennywise
MXPX
(old) Reliant K
Bowling For Soup
Billy Talent
To be honest, i havent really followed the scene since the mid-2000s (which explains the lack of newer bands on the list), but i do enjoy all those bands.

Re: Punk
I'm with you on this one bro! I'm a casual fan too. It's not one of my TOP fave genres ... but I get in the mood every once in a while for some GOOD PUNK!!!
My faves:
1. Swingin' Utters (Love this band from Northern California)
2. The Crucified (early stuff was Punk Rock, before they 'crossed over')
2. One Bad Pig
3. Green Day
4. The Offspring
5. MXPX
6. Weezer (early stuff was Pop Punk)
7. Altar Boys
8. Ned's Atomic Dustbin
9. Screeching Weasel
10. Crashdog
11. Suicidal Tendencies (early stuff was Punk)
12. Hawk Nelson
13. Sex Pistols
14. The Clash
Punk is a great genre!!!

Re: Punk
I grew up listening to punk and 80s and 90s hardcore so it's a huge genre for me that influenced a lot of my young adult life. Some of my favorite bands are early Black Flag, especially with Ron Reyes. TSOL's dance with me, Agent Orange 'Living in Darkness' Fugazi 13 songs, and both the Rites of Spring album and EP among many many others.

Re: Punk
I think What is and what is not Punk is a personal thing. Some consider early Green Day punk, some consider One Bad Pig Punk. Some consider Iggy Pop and the Stooges Punk. With that said my list is small
Iggy Pop & The Stooges
Scream (DC Band)
One Bad Pig
Iggy Pop & The Stooges
Scream (DC Band)
One Bad Pig

You're right. Not sure why I was thinking that. I mean ... I guess it's because the "Blue Album" does have a bit of Pop Punk on it ... but not enough to consider it a Pop Punk album. I stand corrected.

Wow, interesting. After listening, I still would not call that punk. Some kind of punk infused pop-rock, I'm not really sure.

Re: Punk
Some bands defy genres.
However, I would definitely say that Children 18:3 are a Punk Rock band! They are unique, but still Punk Rock.
Hardcore got it right!

Yep, and my opinion is wrong. In fact, you can quote me on that. In your next post write "My opinion is wrong."

Re: Punk
I think genres are fascinating. To see how type of music comes together.
It's appeals to the nerd/geek scientist in this Music Freak!
I'm not a genre Nazi though. I respect others' opinions.
Though I have been told by numerous local friends ... that I am a bit of a genre scholar. But I say that humbly, as it's an honor to excel at something I've spent my lifetime studying. I'm even planning on writing a book on genres in the future, with some of my spare time. Which at this point is very little heehee.

I follow Allan on Twitter. He's still active today. He's in ministry of some kind, I think home church, possibly Messianic Jewish related, and having lots of outdoor adventures in Utah. https://twitter.com/AllanAguirre

Re: Punk
I see alot of similarities with the punk and metal sub-cultures not to imply anyone here because its mostly in documentarys ive seen this. Seems like alot of the Metalheads focus on if thats metal or you have to prove your "metal enough"
Punk is the same way. Except that I think its less forgiving
Genres are ok it helps idenifity the flavor of music I just dont get hung up on them.
