I'll be seeing Above The Storm tonight! They're a local melodic death metal band. I go to church with a couple of the members.

Everytime I mention these guys you are here to say something.
Why do you seem so questioning of their name?

The only music in my town are cover bands and dixieland jazz kind of stuff. Gag.
But, if you drive an hour north to Grand Rapids you get talented hardcore bands like

Re: Bands From Your Area
The biggest local band here is a pretty famous Alternative Rock band called Neon Trees. I'm not much of a fan to be honest. But they are pretty huge considering they did a tour with Imagine Dragons and they're pretty big. Not a fan of either band actually.
But I guess I am kinda proud of them seeing them get so big and stuff. And right here from my 'lil ole town in Utah.

He's making reference to a line in the song "Would" by Alice in Chains (trying to be funny) as was I with my response following his.
I don't think it is a slight on the band at all....
For reference here is a portion of the song lyrics.
Into the flood again
Same old trip it was back then
So I made a big mistake
Try to see it once my way

Re: Bands From Your Area
Here's a list of the awesome "Christian" metal bands from my truly loved state of New Hampshire:
Truly, it IS a great state, but we don't even have Christians, let alone Christians making metal, and so Christians making great metal. . . well, there's the list.

Looks like you've got two Christian bands:

Re: Bands From Your Area
Interesting Kerrick! Apparently that Dry Bones turned into Everdown -- I remember Everdown as one of the biggest musical disappointments of my life. Heaven's Metal (maybe they were already HM by then, I don't remember) reviewed their record and said something like "best thing since The Crucified!" and so I freaked out and grabbed the album. NOTHING like The Crucified, and hated it. Not even their fault, the reviewer's fault, but still maddening!
Either way, it looks like no "Christian" metal bands from NH in the past 20 years. That almost HAS to be a record! Unless Vermont can top us (even lower percentage of Christians, and even lower overall population -- brutal combination!). And of course I didn't live here 20 years ago, I was in SD. Even SD, with 2/3 the population of NH, produced Nodes of Ranvier.

I'm in Michigan.
Did you get a chance to listen to the two hardcore bands I posted above?
