Even though nobody checks this area very often.......
Thought I'd go ahead and post a couple links of some demo stuff for people to check out....it's all GarageBand and an iPhone, so stuff is fairly limited and slightly sketchy, but these give a good idea of where I'm headed.....

OK, just finished. Question. What's that echo-y sound towards the end of the 1st track? Sounds like a loose gate. What caught my attention was at 3:15 where it creates an off beat.
I like a lot of track 2. Lots of cool riffs and lots of variety. I could enjoy hearing that to drums.

that feedback-ish noise is part of the limitations of working with HarageBand and an original iRig on an iPhone. There's a feedback/crosstalk issue that creates just STUPID amounts of noise under high gain. If you gate hard enough to kill it, you lose all sustain. Any other timing issues here are cause A) I didn't use the actual metronome function, was just counting beats my head, B) this was all assembled "copy and paste" from different takes, C) the app is not quite precise enough for me to surgically edit that out like I want to, and D) I don't actually have a ton of time involved in these.....they're not even remotely meant as any sort of finished product, so there's a bit of the whole "just a demo" thing going on.
I'm using the whole iPhone method because it's really just "plug and play". I don't have time in life right now to sort "real" tones out, and set up isn't Reaper on my Mac, or I would. I'd get better results being able to edit on a larger screen isn't a mouse, life just isn't conducted be to it really get now

Also working up several other things as time permits, I've got a concept in my head for how everything flows and lays out, I'm just not sure how much of my material goes with "this" set of stuff, and how much of it groups differently, in regards to overall feel and flow. If you click thru to the "exolasher" main page, there's several riff ideas done on 6 strings, and a little bit of stuff done on 7 or 8. the thing called "song 10" was a one take/no warmup bit on my newest 7 string toy, that I haven't posted here in the guitars thread yet.

You've got some good ideas. You mentioned doing this forever ago. That off beat sound I heard is likely from the c&p. Makes sense.
I'm no song writer, but I come up with fun riffs every so often and then forget them the next day. You make me think that maybe I ought to setup something like that to record them.

That's actually my primary usage for GarageBand. Plug the guitar and some headphones into my IRig (there's other interfaces available, as well as 3 newer iterations of the iRig itself), plug the iRig into the headphone jack, open GarageBand, press record, play riff. Makes a very nice little "musical notepad", so to speak. I export to soundcloud to still have a copy in case I have a phone crash/break or something.
I may very, very seriously take another stab at these via the Mac/Reaper/PODHD500 tomorrow night. I was listening to a couple things I did with that combo a few years ago, and my basic tones are just waaaaaaay better, IMO, and I can be way more precise in the editing, do better work with fade in/out stuff.Might investigate VST amp sims and impulse responses too.......

Well, I never did get the Mac/Reaper/VST amp sim thing up and going, so that's by the wayside for the moment........but here's last night's effort. I envision this going a few tracks after what I've already uploaded, needs a better start, and I've got another riff motif that will end up in it at some point.

Re: Even though nobody checks this area very often.......
Another night off, another track stitched together. I'm getting fairly productive at this; this one really only has about 90 minutes in to everything from grabbing my iRig to uploading to soundcloud. Again, rough patches here and there, and the faster riffs in the second half are literally something I came up with Tuesday morning before bed. They're a speed/style that's outside my comfort range, and I tried them with minimal practice. Nowhere NEAR how tight and clean I want to be with them.
I've decided to go ahead and post up where I think I'm headed in an ordered playlist form. The newest number is "no drums demo track 6" in the playlist, "track 7" was previously posted as "Abbath-Y thing the other day". Track 3 is yet to be recorded, track 4/5 are slated to be the "stormsinger" bit off the soundclick stuff I posted a couple years ago, and a lengthier intro/interlude for it...

Hopefully this link still works too......the old "stormsinger" demo off soundclick....

Update.
Harmony run halfway thru is SUPER rough, I just ran out of time to keep trying things this morning. We'll see if I have the gumption to "fix" it at some point.
