I hate the fact that some people get judged for being real, while some are being loved for being fake.

I hate social networks, there is a concentration of dumb debates (and not only debates) on it and people are leaving forums for it. I'm not closing my account just because of buisness and some friends

true..however capitalism the way it works in the states these days is pretty bad as well (thats why it cost so much to live in the states these days)..its actually interesting to see how much socialism exist in the USA already..our medical system, our school system, the way alot of federal, city and state finances and taxes are handled, our welfare system ...

Re: Random thoughts...
What prompted me to come up with that phrase was when I was listening to the Mike Wallace interview with Ayn Rand. Mike's counter arguments to Ayn's insistence that socialism is immoral was taking the golden rule, brother's keeper, love one anothers and using it justify socialism. I've long wondered how socialism got its foothold in the states and now I think I know how. It was sold to us a way to 'love one's neighbor.' Thus: socialism is theft in the name of love.Savage Amusement wrote:Socialism is theft in the name of love.

I think that capitalism is quite misunderstood and has been intentionally maligned by those who promote socialism and communism. In my wife's country there is no socialism. If you don't work, you don't eat. Everybody does something. Yes there are great disparities between the rich and poor, you have that here too but, you don't have the misery of indolence that we have here under socialism.

what have the press being saying about the violence in France? As far as I can tell, it seems to be mostly instigated by the Russians, but the England fans aren't innocent.

Hulu Plus asks the dumbest multiple choice question I've ever heard. After hours of cycling through episodes, it puts a prompt on the screen that says:
"Still watching?" ...with "yes" and "no" as the choices.
If I'm not still watching, I'm not even going to be there to choose no and it just stays on that prompt.
!?!?!?
Ridiculous.

Went to an Indian orthodox church. The food was good, the people were great, but God wasn't there.
Had a debate with an orthodox friend on the veneration of saints. Said friend has read a library's worth of texts on philosophy and religion. More than I ever could. Then the Holy Spirit overcame me and showed me the flaw and he was silenced and had no response. That was awesome.

Your statements about "God not being there" at various Christian gatherings, where does this fall in with Matthew 18:19-20?

Catholic and orthodox churches are not inline with God. Catechism and liturgy are extra rules that the entire book of Galatians speaks against. Therefore, those who go to these services are not there for God, but for the traditions of man.thedavo wrote:Peter who was Vaak wrote:Went to an Indian orthodox church. Wow. As someone whose previous church used liturgy almost exclusively in their services, and having spent a large portion of my adult Christian life in churches which have used some liturgy (following the Anglican book of common prayer & related texts), I would vehemently disagree on this. I also have several Orthodox friends whose faith and wisdom I greatly admire and respect, as well as other friends (and one family member) who are Anglo-Catholic. Liturgy has always been used in worship.
A couple of the most spiritually powerful moments I have experienced have been Orthodox-based. My visit to Tallinn cathedral in 2012 (my wife & I walked in on a weekday morning during mass) is one, and Crimson Moonlight's last performance at Nordic Fest (Simon is Orthodox).
From an Orthodox friend of mine:
" The church has always been liturgical. It was passed down from the temple. Some Jews have attended orthodox services and didn't know much in common we share. These rituals have been around for centuries to worship God and aren't about to change them. There are small t traditions and ones that we really are serious about.
We use everything for beauty because we believe God deserves our best.
Everything in the liturgy has meaning. Catechism is necessary for learning, we don't just let you in the church. We want you to know that this is carrying your cross. I believe in more than just a relationship with God, but with the saints and his church."

Re: Random thoughts...
And I would tell you a church that uses liturgy almost exclusively is hardly a church at all. The bible is the breathed word of God. If you are concerned about the words of man more than God, I would ask "do you seek to please man? Or God? For if I seek to please man, I would not be a bondservant of Christ." To use liturgy as a guiding principle is to reject all Christ said about the Pharisee.thedavo wrote:Peter who was Vaak wrote:Catholic and orthodox churches are not inline with God. We are not to trust emotions. Emotions are what ensnares a Mormon with the burning of the bosom.
Your orthodox friend is wrong. Five of the seven churches in the book of revelation were repudiated because they were wrong, so using history as a guiding principle is wrong. And using Jews are wrong! They reject the divinity of Jesus Christ!. And they follow in the tradition of the Pharisee.
And carrying a cross isn't learning what others thought of the bible. That's silly. It means don't expect an easy life. Christian lives aren't supposed to be easy. And why would you want a relationship with saints when you have God? God is more than everything. Anything else next to him is worthless. And the veneration of saints is idolatry.
Also, I'll tell you this, the God I speak to every day, the God who told me how to get the money to go to Europe this summer, the one who cured me of schizophrenia, anxiety and depression, and so much more, is the same God who told me pope Shenouda did not make it to heaven. God does not like rules made by humans and He does not like catechism or liturgy. He also told me He wished you knew Him.

Re: Random thoughts...
I am honestly stuck on that Jewish thing. I have nothing against them, but honestly? Jews complimented you on how similar your stuff is?. How is it you can take pride in that? Did you miss everything that was said against the Pharisee? Against the sadducees?. Have you seen all the warnings against the adding of laws?. Did you not know Jews are descended from the Pharisee?
If you want God, focus on the bible. Whatever it is you are doing is very, very, very wrong.

Re: Random thoughts...
Gents, at this time I must bust out the old moderator hat, put it on, and make a couple things very, VERY clear:
1) This thread is not the place for this. Nobody wants to come in here and see you guys bickering back and forth, so please cease immediately.
2) This subject (Catholic/orthodox vs Protestant offshoots) has NEVER proven beneficial to the health of the board. Never. Not one solitary time. The fallout from this particular debate is one of the primary reasons that Theology Realm is permanently closed.
3) If you simply MUST carry this over and start another thread (NOT the recommended course of action, FYI), you need to tread with EXTREME caution and care. Based on CMR's past history with the subject, to say a new thread will have a SHORT leash will be understatement of the century. Not saying you CAN'T have the discussion, just that for the general affect this debate has on he board, it's PROBABLY better off not happening.

Re: Random thoughts...
apparently, I wasn't clear enough in my instructions.
I said to KNOCK IT OFF.
That means no retorts, no last word to get in, none of that.
It means that this direction off discussion is DONE in this thread. Period.
I don't care HOW pissed off and offended the other guy made you.
Perhaps in a week, you'll listen better. See you then......

Find video of the agressor (yes there is one, reported as hate and propaganda content to Youtube too) and posted this on comment:
You are in Satan's hand, Satan's messager, blood is not for real God but for Satan. Praying for people here wake up and will not come with you in hell.
I'm not naive on it impact, but i can't leave all this bullsh... without introducing a part of peace and Jesus on it.
In more happy terms, i love Periodic Video's channel, great chemistry explanations

Ridiculous.
It's probably worth mentioning that I fall asleep with Hulu, wake up and it's still going. A few hours later that prompt shows up. So like, 10 hours later?
If they're wanting to save bandwidth, they should do like Netflix does. After 3 episodes play, dump the viewer into the next episode menu. No goofy question that can only be answered if I'm still watching.
