So, I've been calling out sick from work

Haha, in all seriousness, I called out last Thursday before my days off and I am going to be forced to call out next Sunday as well. I've called out in the past and used my sick hours because I had leg problems and was honestly sick. Last Thursday, I called in to take care of my sick dog since nobody would be home until 2am and I leave the house at 8:30pm and come home at 6am. Is calling in sick to take care of a sick pet a good reason to call in?

I was in a pretty emotional state on Wednesday because my dogs stomach had swollen up. My brothers dog had to be put down because of cancer and she had a big abdomen on the time of her death so, can you imagine the stuff going through my head? After praying and asking God to heal my pet and after crying like a baby on the bus AND at work, I decided to call in to be with my dog and just care for him. God must have heard my prayers because my dog was cheerful and playful the next day with less swelling. The vet told me nothing was wrong with him except for some back pain and gave me meds for him.

This upcoming Sunday, I had asked for a vacation day off since it's close to my birthday and was hoping they would give it to me. I haven't even got a reply for it and got scheduled to work Sad

I am attending an event on Sunday with friends that take place in the morning and all afternoon. I will pretty much be unable to get the sleep I need for an overnight shift and was thinking of calling out. Will the managers know I am playing hooky if I call in and say I'm sick? Haha, I can imagine it now.

I tend to only use vacation when my kid is sick. When I am sick I just come to work and try not to spread it...Like I am doing today. I have hand foot mouth again. I used most of my PTO last week taking care of my son while he had it. Now I am getting the same thing. Sucks

Well Mr. Pencil, as long as you don't annoy your co-workers or manager by not being their when they really need you, it's no big deal. When people get the sense that you weren't really sick and their shift that day was really tough without you then...
