Greg Bishop leaves X-SINNER!
Sad news...
MAJOR X-SINNER ANNOUNCEMENT: Greg Bishop the founding member and lead guitarist of X-Sinner is retiring from the band and music scene. Greg will be selling off some of his guitar gear as well including the two Fenders pictured here at some later date. The axes will be autographed upon request of the buyers. They may go the way of a silent auction where bids will be taken privately in sealed envelopes. Proceeds will go to a charity of Greg's choice. The band has not made any decision as to continuing on with a live replacement or not as vocalist Rex Scott is also very busy now days with his GX Project band. X-Sinner has two new songs tracked to be released this year digitally only.

Wow, sounds like he is done with X-Sinner and music in general.

Re: Greg Bishop leaves X-SINNER!
That would be my guess seeing as how the band is simply fed up with the illegal downloading that is going on. My guess is calling it quits is what they will do.

Re: Greg Bishop leaves X-SINNER!
I kind of known this when I was talking to Rex and Greg back in the summer of 2013. Greg has an engineering career. I am guessing Rex will keep things going with GX. Whether or not X-Sinner is done, or if Rex will get another guitar player or change the GX name to X-Sinner, time will tell. I'm suspecting X-Sinner is done. I was hoping X-Sinner would release another album or 2 before calling it quits. I will be buying the 2 songs whenever they are released. As you all may know, X-Sinner Released the following:
Get It - December 1989
Peace Treaty - Summer 1991/Rerecorded as Fire It Up with Hold On from Peace Treaty replaced with Fire It Up - 2006
Pakaderm Artists - Portrait of a Spirit - Recorded 1 acoustic song called Shelter Me - 1991
X-Sinner/Angry Einsteins - Cracked - recorded in 1996 and released in 2003
Loud and Proud/Loud and Proud 2 remastered - 2001/2007
World Covered in Blood - 2008
X-Sinner is one of my favorite bands. I have all of the above releases.

I can understand someone hanging it up because they just don't have the time and energy anymore, but for someone to get pissed off and hang it up just because of illegal downloading is lame. Very lame!

Perhaps if you were ever in the position to have money stolen from you by people who feel entitled to something simply because they can do it, maybe you'd understand his perspective ?
You make a comment about truth in another thread, but call somebody lame for being upset that they are being ripped off. Priceless.

Illegal downloading may be a small fraction of it, but I think the real reason, is all the effort you put into it, to just sell a few copies.

How do you know that I've never been in that type of position?

Would I have to be a rock star like him in order to understand that type of position?
If you think so,....that's just....priceless.
And by the way...I didn't call anyone lame
If illegal downloading were the reason, which I am doubting it is, then yes...it would be lame.

Re: Greg Bishop leaves X-SINNER!
I thought I remember reading somewhere that Greg had a medical issue/condition that made it difficult for him to play the guitar. I could be wrong, but thought I remember seeing that somewhere.

Re: Greg Bishop leaves X-SINNER!
I spoke to Greg and Rex in the summer of 2013 and they are pretty laid back nice guys. I am not sure of their spiritual condition (I'm not basing this on them having a can of beer each - to each his own on doing that) or if they are still Christians, but all around nice guys. They took time to sign my X-Sinner CDs - Peace Treaty, Get It and World Covered in Blood. They were surprised I had the first 2 albums on CD. I am glad I had a chance to meet one of my favorite guitar players.
I can partly understand why Greg is leaving the music business. He has a career as an engineer and perhaps he wants to focus his energy on a steady career. If I hear any news on the future of X-Sinner or if there is one, you guys will be one of the first to know.

Re: Greg Bishop leaves X-SINNER!
My response was merely towards what you brought up, "illegal downloading" and referencing that alone. (I really don't care about you personally.) If you ever were in a band and had to deal with the aspect of what harm it does to musicians individually and the band as a whole, we'd not be having this debate and you wouldn't be calling somebody tired of dealing with thieves "lame".Mortal wrote:

I never heard World Cover In Blood or All Fired Up, so I'm behind on their newer stuff...

Glad to know I wasn't the only one who saw that, sometimes I wonder about my memory. I keep meaning to take that natural supplement that is supposed to help with memory, but every time I am at the store I can't remember what it is called.

Hahaha I was going to try and find a gif of that scene from Stand By Me where everyone is projectile-vomiting all over the place but... decided against it.
