Goliath is out, and the reviews are starting to come in.

I'm eagerly awaiting for the CD to show up on my doorstep. What I've heard online so far I like.

They claim "available everywhere." I hope to find it this weekend at a brick-and-mortar store. We'll see.

Stores still have CD's?
I'd say your chances are better online. Amazon has it.

Listened to it once through - good stuff. "Comedian", the closer, is my favorite so far. The man can write!

No. Rarely. But when they actually do have something I want I try to support that. I've got to go out tomorrow anyway (I want all of my Christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving).

Update: No luck. I will go online to get it.
Here's the link from Steve Taylor:

Incidentally, The last three of the last four Stryper releases turned up at various retail stores weeks after the official release dates. In those cases I had already given up and ordered online too. I wonder how much more music retail stores would sell if they stocked it well. I can't find August Burns Red - Sleddin' Hill either.

I'm not sure how many physical CDs they decided to do. Hopefully they'll have them available for sale at other distros.

Re: Steve Taylor And The Perfect Foil
My autographed CD arrived in the mail the other day (nice bonus for being a Kickstarter backer and waiting a long time for the finished product). I've listened to it a couple times through now. I can see that it might take a few times through to grow on me as I liked it more on the second spin. A closer listen to the songs with the massive lyric sheet/poster unfolded will probably make me like it more.
So far I'd say that while it's not as good as Squint (a classic), the album is no slouch either. Which is saying a lot for a guy that hasn't released a proper album in 20 years.

Re: Steve Taylor And The Perfect Foil
I ordered it from their website and got an autographed copy too. I was not a Kickstarter backer but still got a signed one. It was not advertised as being signed on the website. I wonder if that's standard from their website or they signed extras sold off on a first-come-first-served basis.
I'm with bjorn again, very good for someone who took a 20-year break between albums. Musically it's up there with Squint as my favorite (time will tell though). I still need to sit down with the lyric sheet and really dig into it. This is his strength after all.

The title of this thread/band keeps fooling me into thinking it is about Aerosmith' Steven Tyler, lol.

What I am hearing is pretty cool! I've never been a Taylor fan, but I might have to get this.
Re: Steve Taylor And The Perfect Foil
Now that I've heard this album several times I gotta say that I really it's a really fun listen. This album strikes me as a really good alternative music album that was released at a time when nobody makes alternative music any more. However, I'm sure comparisons could be made to modern music artists (none of which I'm well versed in). The combo of Jimmy Abegg on guitar and John Mark Painter on bass has produced some hooks that definitely get in your brain. I especially like the distortion on the bass (which is nice and forward in the mix) on some of the songs.
This album is a bit of a paradox. Past Steve Taylor albums often had awesome memorable lyrics that were matched up with music that may not have always matched up to the caliber of the lyrics. This album is different in that it reminds me more of Chagall Guevara because the lyrics are more subdued. You have to analyze the lyrics to get what Steve is singing about, and even then I'm not sure what some of the songs are about.
