Prayer for Adoption

I would appreciate if you guys could keep us in your prayers. In December 2013 we began fostering my sister’s 3 month old due to some pretty extreme circumstances involving drugs and murder. We have now been raising him for more than 6 months and he is 9 months old, but they are still attempting to go through all of the DHS hoops to get him back. We are really hoping they don’t get him back because I know that even if she gets clean of meth again that its only a matter of time before she is back on it again, considering this is the 3rd child that has been taken away from her due to drug use. And we don’t want to send him back to that environment.

When we first got him he had major breathing problems probably due to living with 7-8 heavy smokers. Hes doing much better now since he came to us and is quite happy. We recently discovered via a video she posted on Facebook that during one of their visitations they were letting him drink out of a Dr Pepper bottle which we were not too happy about. We are worried about what will happen to him if he does go back so we are hoping that things work out so that we can adopt. Please keep us in your prayers that we have favor with the courts.

I appreciate the prayers. My wife had raised the Dr. Pepper incident to the caseworker and also reported an aggressive outburst toward her family that occured at a recent visitation. Shortly after I posted this thread the caseworker simply told my wife "I dont think you will have any more problems".

He explained that due to their recent behavior he checked up on the status of their drug tests (they are court ordered to do 2 random drug tests per week). Apparently the last drug test they actually did was in May, so he is going to talk to his supervisor to "see how they want to proceed".

This is good news for us, and while in the beginning I felt a bit bad about being glad about something like this with my sister, I have had to make myself realize through this whole process that although I do care about my sister, the fate of the baby is of a higher importance. I really appreciate the prayers and I will keep you guys updated.

Once we finally are able to go through with adoption I can finally post some pictures.

That is very heavy stuff to deal with, those poor children. Will pray for the situation to be resolved smoothly and for your sister's circumstances.

Update:

The biological parents (my sister) had court this week on Wednesday, which we attended. They pretty much spun a yarn of excuses, saying they lost their paperwork when their car was stolen so thats why they havent done anything for the whole 6 months and so on.

The Judge wasnt having any of that though and told them they are very close to losing it and reduced their time from 180 days to 90 days. So this means they now have only 90 days do the following:

* Enroll in and successfully complete parenting classes
* Get jobs that can support them and a child
* Show up for at least 2 of their 3 visitations per week
* Actually complete their drug tests

So hopefully things go well for us in 90 days. They also even tried to taunt my sister-in-law in the lobby before court. Please continue to pray for our November hearing

Thanks for the prayers everyone. This morning my wife got a text presumably from my sister indicating that she was considering putting him up for adoption because they are struggling, they are strangers to him and they want the best for him.

We are hoping she is not simply drunk texting. Will update you guys as things develop

Has anything happened with this?

We officially completed the adoption on 12/15/15. So he is officially adopted into our family now.
