Are we now seriously starting threads about AI rumours?
I would be more interested in the story of your braces. Did your dad‘s employer have a dental plan?

that sounds like a sort of dystopia to me...

I think AI can be a useful tool, but we are just taking it way too far. Grammerly is a good AI tool that's not harmful, but there's plenty of terrible and/or way over the top uses for AI. The guys in my school just use ChatGPT instead of actually working.

^^About ChatGPT I agree. We’re losing the knowledge of how to do research. I graded masters students for 10 years and trust me, we don’t need to encourage any more laziness in research and writing.
Some are even advocating pastors use GPT for their sermons. I am completely against this, and if I found out an ordination candidate in my association did it, I’d vote against them.

Yeah. My Chemistry teacher had us do a short essay (I forget exactly what it was on) on a day he was gone. Probably 90% of the class just used CGPT. The next day he said that he wasn't actually taking a grade for it because he knew people would just use CGPT.

Yeah. That's not cool. I would rally against the pastor and try to get him kicked out. You have an entire week to write a sermon, and you're too lazy so you use AI. Really?seth wrote:Yeah AI generated sermons are a massive nope from me

I mean, there are weeks in the ministry where you have little to no time for sermon prep. Could be multiple members in the hospital, counseling issues, weddings and funerals, you yourself could be sick, etc. There’s also a lot of ministers who are bivocational. But in those cases you should know the Word well enough that you can put something together. And if your struggles were outside your control, rather than laziness, you can pray the Lord will bless your efforts, even if they weren’t as extensive as you’d like.

Or at least have another trusted person help prepare the sermon. AI is definitely not trustworthy for spiritual instruction

Yeah. We don't have a youth pastor atm and my dad will normally do youth on sunday mornings. He'll just have a section of scripture pop up in his heart and start reading/talking about it. If a pastor can't do that, they aren't ready to be a pastor imo. You have to be able to let Holy Spirit just tell you what you need to be talking about at that moment.

Another thing: whenever you need to use the work of others in your sermon (their outlines, quotes, key insights, etc), go ahead and cite them. People expect you to be studying; they don’t expect you to be plagiarizing.
