Anyone know if this is true?
I asked AI a question about my retainers (recently got my braces off) and I started on a little spiral asking it for some Christian death metal bands with vocals like later Death. The results were kind of what i was expecting, but one band it recommended was Tourniquet. It said this:
"While there isn't a specific, documented quote from Chuck Schuldiner explicitly praising Tourniquet, it's well-known that he respected their technical skill and the depth of their lyrics."
Does anyone know if this is actually true?

I don't either, but it keeps saying it every time I ask it. Usually, it'll change its answer if you ask it the same question multiple times.Pethead wrote:No clue. I don’t trust AI.

I wouldn't be too surprised. Tons of secular musicians have said they like Christian bands. Marty has talked about liking/preformed with Tourniquet and Ted. I believe that Lars said he loves the music video for Weapons of Our Warfare.

You should be surprised. I've listened to his music for decades and read a ton of interviews and I've never heard him mention that band or wear a shirt of theirs. You're projecting your views onto him.

He was open about the bands he was into: Kiss, Watchtower, Sortilege, Coroner, Possessed, Slayer, Venom
Nothing he recorded sounded anything like Tourniquet. There's just 0 evidence that he cared anything about them.

AI language models can be fun to play around with, but beyond that I don’t think they’re really useful for much. I certainly wouldn’t trust their statements if you can’t find evidence elsewhere

I agree there is no evidence it is true.
BUT, anything is possible. Schuldiner seemed like the kind of guy who had hundreds of records. In the 90's he was probably buying them for $3-$4 a piece. I bet he was exposed to almost everything. Who wouldn't like Stop the Bleeding?

Re: Anyone know if this is true?
I'll try to find the links but one of his ex bandmates said chuck became Christian in his last years. Also chuck said he respected his mom's Christian views and he tried to learn and understand all religions etc. So he may not have been a practicing Christian(at least til later) but it's pretty documented that he at least respected others views and could enjoy it. So no reason he couldn't have enjoyed tourniquet.
I say all of that defending the AI stuff which honestly I HATE AI and think it will be the final straw in society as we know it. (Make it even worse than it is now). But that's for another topic.

I hate some of the uses, but I like it overall and use it pretty often.Maddierecords1 wrote:I'll try to find the links but one of his ex bandmates said chuck became Christian in his last years. Re: Anyone know if this is true?
I played around with chat gpt a while back, mostly making it generate ridiculous images for laughs. But after a while it started gaslighting me by refusing to generate more images, and claiming it had never been able to generate them in the first place (which was obviously false). Still have no idea what happened. After that I lost interest and haven’t used it since

I hate AI and feel its rapid and widespread embrace and implementation is yet another step on the downward spiral for our society.
But other than that I don’t have any strong feelings about it…

I think it’s important for people to realize that a potential dystopia brought about by AI/robots/machines would look much more like WALL-E than like Terminator or The Matrix

I didn’t say anything about a dystopia. I’m more concerned about the harm to creativity, research, critical thinking, and the ability to separate fact from falsehood.seth wrote:I think it’s important for people to realize that a potential dystopia brought about by AI/robots/machines would look much more like WALL-E than like Terminator or The Matrix

The fact that it could, in the future, fake court evidence, is pretty terrifying. There should be some way to prevent it from being able to replicate real people. I will also say I use chat stuff much more than image generation.
Re: Anyone know if this is true?
Agreed. It's already being used to fake inappropriate pictures of people and ruining their lives.StevenCressler wrote:The fact that it could, in the future, fake court evidence, is pretty terrifying. And it's used for political gain in commercials and ads etc. which is gross too. Just all around terrivke.

Yeah. Image generation needs much more boundaries on what can and cannot be created. However I have no problems with sites like ChatGPT, which I use often for feedback on my stories.Maddierecords1 wrote:Agreed. Re: Anyone know if this is true?
Yeah. No problem with that. I look at it as a significantly more advance spell check. Which I obviously need based on my last post.StevenCressler wrote:Yeah.
