Re: Heaviest Tourniquet Song
Sola Christus from Vanishing Lessons is pretty heavy too.
And one that is a "different kind of" heavy is Going Going Gone from Crawl to China. It might not be a "heavy metal heavy" song but it's a stoner groove kind of a heavy song and has heavy riffs throughout the song. One of my all time favorites from Tourniquet.
In my opinion, Going Going Gone shares a tiny bit of the same DNA with Trivializing the Momentous in that how they both have extremely beautiful harmonized parts at the end. In Trivializing there's the "he came to set the prisoner free" part that is among my all time favorite Luke Easter moments. He sings the line, then doubles the line with a harmony, then triples the line with another harmony and that's one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard, especially when you focus on listening to the harmonies. In Going Going Gone there's the "American symbol of freedom" part near the end but this time it's the guitar that goes on to do a really beautiful and sad harmony after the vocals.
Sometimes I just put those songs on only to immediately skip to those parts and listen to them over and over again. Both of those parts speak to me the exact same way.
For me Going Going Gone also has something similar with Perfect Night and The Hand Trembler in the heavy guitar tone. While they're not the same, they are all different sounding songs from all that Tourniquet had previously done.
If the tribute band Stop the Bleeding would ever choose to play a song that was done after Gary left I'd love them to play Going Going Gone. I've seen how much into Gary is playing the heavy groove riffs (Phantom Limb and Vanishing Lessons etc) so I'm sure he'd love to play that one too. Maybe have a bit of that in a medley or something.

I think that overall, Gazing At Medusa is their heaviest album.theloudfarter wrote:One Foot In Forever is heavy too!Roebuckryan wrote:The Crushing Weight of Eternity…the heaviest topic there is.

I know it isn't technically a Tourniquet album. That's why I said "If we are ok with counting Onward To Freedom"MagnusPrime wrote:Christian Thrash Rules wrote:If we are ok with counting Onward To Freedom then I would like to add The Slave Ring. It has Mattie Montgomery on vocals.

Somehow I completely missed this album. I remember the title, but I guess I forgot to ever listen to it. Same thing with Slow Cosmic Voyage to Wisdom.

The downtuned song, the mix and production, the guitar harmonies and
the vocals of Gary, Victor and Eric here are what heavy means to me.

The Slow Cosmic Voyage to Wisdom is a compilation I believe. Onward to Freedom is really good though.strangerhoncho wrote:Christian Thrash Rules wrote:I know it isn't technically a Tourniquet album. Which reminds me that Mission to MACS J1149+2223 Lensed Star 1 is probably Tourniquet's heaviest song

Yeah. Well, if it was heaviest Ted Kirkpatrick songs I would say The Slave Ring. I don't think it's the heaviest, but would you count Stereotaxic Atrocities as a Tourniquet song?Luke Easter wrote:There’s no “technically” about it. Onward… is not, never was, and never will be a Tourniquet album. It is a Ted solo record, that he later retconned in an attempt to pass it off as a Tourniquet album.
So no.

That “song” was a massive disappointment for me lol. I was expecting some sort of epic like Mirror of Souls when I saw the length, and instead it’s literally just noiseAirola wrote:strangerhoncho wrote:Christian Thrash Rules wrote:I know it isn't technically a Tourniquet album. Re: Heaviest Tourniquet Song
It’s not Tourniquet… but it may as well be because Ted essentially became Tourniquet on the last few albums. And his combo of detuned guitars with the orange amps became his trademark sound.
His love of doom and “stoner” metal was obvious.
