Metallica VS. Megadeth, Modern Albums

Dystopia sucks.  Adler has to be one of the most overrated drummers in metal history.

I like Endgame, but I agree with Pethead about less hooks. I love Dystopia! It's an awesome album imo.

Dystopia could also stand to have some stronger hooks, but I like it more than Endgame.

@ToB, what do you think of The Sick…the Dying…and the Dead?

I like TSTDATD, but it's only ok. My top three modern MD albums are 1. UA, 2. Dystopia, 3. TSHF

SC sucks imo. 13 and SC are both pretty bad.

I like both of those more than Endgame and TSTD&TD, and probably more than Dystopia.

I was quite underwhelmed by Dystopia.  One of the albums where the cover is better than the music.

It was tough to find a place for the newest album. I know I like it less than Dystopia but I'm not sure if I like it better than the best of Cryptic Writings or The World Needs a Hero.

I'm not that much into Dystopia either but the title track and Poisonous Shadows are among the best Megadeth tracks, but then again songs like She-Wolf and especially Disintegrators might even be better. And there are a few tracks on The World Needs a Hero that are fantastic too. But then again the worst of Cryptic Writings and The World Needs a Hero are worse than anything on Dystopia or The Sick The Dying and The Dead.

Because of the tiring overproduction of The Sick the Dying and the Dead I'd like to drop it under The World Needs a Hero.

One thing I'm absolute sure of is that I rank The System Has Failed and Endgame up right there among Killing, Peace and Rust and I count them as part of Megadeth classics.

Cryptic Writings is way to low.

CW is quite good. Way better than what Metallica or Anthrax were doing at the time, and good on its own merits.

It has some great hooks.

It does, which is what I dig about 90s Deth.

It's kind of inconsistent, some songs are a little mid. The main reason it's so low is simply because of how good the rest of their albums are tho
