Metallica VS. Megadeth, Modern Albums
Obviously Megadeth has a lot more modern albums than Metallica. I think overall, Megadeth has better albums, but Metallica's are more consistently good. DM, HTSD, and 72S are all really good albums, but Dystopia and UA are better overall. But Thirteen and Super Collider are just not good.

I think DM is up there with the best of moden MD, but overall I prefer modern MD.
Btw what's counting as modern? 2000's?

Coming back to this, Megadeth easily. Some of their modern era challenges their classic stuff IMO.

UA is my favorite album. I know it's crazy putting it above RIP, but when I factor in the lyrics UA takes the top spotStevenCressler wrote:Coming back to this, Megadeth easily. Some of their modern era challenges their classic stuff IMO.

Hmm… I’ll give it to Deth, but I don’t think it’s a slam dunk. Metallica albums suffer from bloat, but there are killer tunes on those albums. But TSHF and UA are really good, and the other Deth albums have good tunes.

It’s my favorite of their modern stuff, but nowhere near as high as RiP on my list.Christian Thrash Rules wrote:UA is my favorite album. Honestly, I prefer both UA and Youthinasia over RIP. But it's veeeeeeerry close between the three.Pethead wrote:It’s my favorite of their modern stuff, but nowhere near as high as RiP on my list.Christian Thrash Rules wrote:UA is my favorite album. Musically, Megadeth is miles better on their modern albums. But Metallica still have the hooks and are probably more memorable.

Re: Metallica VS. Megadeth, Modern Albums
I'mma have to disagree heavily there. Endgame is a top 5 Deth album for me. My favorite song is How the Story Ends! The main riff it totally my riffing style (which is my favorite style, hence why I write in it lol)Pethead wrote:SC is underrated. Re: Metallica VS. Megadeth, Modern Albums
Endgame is probably a bottom 5 Deth album for me, although Headcrusher is a favorite tune.
Ever since it came out, it’s left me cold. After loving TSHF and UA, I found Endgame to focus too much on shred and not enough on hooks. To this day I can only really remember 2 songs from it: 44 Minutes and Headcrusher, plus a few parts of This Day We Fight. It’s enjoyable while it’s on, but it doesn’t stay with me, no matter how much I’ve spun it. (I was also disappointed that Dave dropped the Christian lyrics, but that doesn’t impact my thoughts on the music).
