Albums You Wish Were On Spotify That Aren't
A couple for me are the first two(I think it's two?) Seventh Angel albums. Believer - Sanity Obscure and Extraction From Morality. Temple Of Blood - Overlord. Jesus Freaks - Socially Unacceptable. Deliverance - Hear What I Say!. Those are the big ones for me.

This will never happen and the first album is getting removed once our new album drops.

In the Christian realm I would like to see the following:
Barren Cross - State Of Control
X-Sinner - Get It
Force 3 - Warrior Of Light
Traxter - Rock N' Race
Messiah Prophet - all albums
Siloam - all albums
Haven - all albums
Ordained Fate - all albums
Sacrecy
Soldier
Philadelphia - all albums
Creed - The Sign Of Victory
Lightmare - The Fool
Oblation
Broken Silence
Neon Cross - all albums
Any 80's metal compilations
There are others but this is all I have time to list now.

I've heard Spotify doesn't pay their artists well

Spotify is a complete rip-off for artists.
Things were much better for indie artists before streaming services.

Yes. The vocals are unique and many hate them, but I love the atmosphere. I wonder what you'd think considering you love VR's vocalsChristian Thrash Rules wrote:YES. Is it similar to VR? As long as it's not Torn FleshStevenCressler wrote:Yes. The vocals are unique and many hate them, but I love the atmosphere. Not really, but it's much closer to VR than TF. They sound very ghost-like in a way. I recommend the song Haven of Blasphemy.

My question is, if you feel this way about Spotify, why don't all these other bands? You're also losing a pretty big amount of people who would enjoy listening to your music.

I'm still recording vocals outside of work and family obligations.

Probably a lot of reasons.
1. I prioritize breaking even from my music more than metrics. Just yesterday I learned my kid needs braces which will be $6000
2. They might live off mommy and daddy, a trust fund, or a spouse with a lucrative job who supports them (you would be shocked how common this is in the music scene)
3. Having an organic recording approach is more expensive, as opposed to having everything sound as digital as possible. At some point it might as well be AI.
4. I released two indie albums before streaming, so I know how much easier it was to break even pre-streaming whereas younger artists have no historical context.
5. They are on bigger labels that get a higher % payout from Spotify than indie artists
6. I've read more about economics than they have
.... and possibly many, many more.
I'd love to hear other artists weigh in on this issue, preferably ones who were selling indie albums 10-15 years ago.
You're also losing a pretty big amount of people who would enjoy listening to your music.
Are restaurants losing a lot of customers by not giving away all their food for free?
A single paying customer is worth thousands of plays.
How can you expect someone to buy an album if you give them the whole thing for free? Very counter-intuitive.
My approach is to put a few singles on Spotify/YouTube to hopefully win folks over but never to give away my new albums for free. It costs several thousand dollars to make a good metal album and with the money from Spotify I can't even afford to buy a new guitar strap and strings.

Re: Albums You Wish Were On Spotify That Aren't
How much does spotify pay? I know multiple people who are at the same level (or possibly even lower level) then your band, who are on spotify and I haven't heard them saying "Spotify isn't fair". And I wasn't meaning that "you're losing customers" but that there's all these people (myself included) who can really only use Spotify and would love your band, but now can't listen. I am currently not wanting to buy any music because I'm saving up for other things (specifically a $2000 guitar).

Re: Albums You Wish Were On Spotify That Aren't
I can't recall the exact amount because it was so insignificant. Maybe 20 bucks after several years for the one album I put up there. Maybe not even that much.
There are a lot of indie artists who haven't put their albums on Spotify last time I checked.
You and others will be able to hear the 1-3 singles from each album on Spotify but not whole albums. I think that's very fair.
I love a lot of things too but can't afford them all.

I guess I wouldn't mind if PFR's Disappear was on Spotify. But tbh I only really care about 2 of their albums, even though I really like some songs from all 5.
