Soundgarden Genre?

Re: Soundgarden Genre?
I think the only band that was actually a metal band (in disguise) was AIC.
They didn’t have the same “alternative rock” sound as their fellow Seattle bands. They came from a glam metal background and morphed into a dark Sabbath/Danzig style.

Why would a 40 year old pop fan be on this website arguing about metal and sub genres? If someone that is older is on this site, they probably have been listening to metal (of some form) for decades.
Therefore, unless they are a complete airhead, they will know a lot more than a 15 year old. Even if you somehow started liking metal at age 10, that was only 5 years ago!
Versus some 40+ year old that has been a metal fan for 35 years.
It’s simple math. With all probability, the older music fan will know a lot more than the “green” kiddo.

Re: Soundgarden Genre?
That is true, and I have no doubt Black Rider knows more about metal than CTR. A better question however is, why would a 40+ year old man care so much about being seen as right, on an obsure internet form, about a subject that has zero impact on anyone’s real life, that he would get personally offended when a kid dares to disagree with him? Arguing about musical opinions is fine as long as it’s done in good fun, but some of y’all take things way too seriously.TZ75 wrote:Christian Thrash Rules wrote:It seems like you have a problem with people disagreeing with you. In the 90s, Chuck Norris put people in the ICU by booting them from chatrooms.

None of them sound alike… but they were lumped together because of their location and anti glam-metal attitudes.
Three of the bands have obvious Black Sabbath influence (Nirvana added punk), and the other was more of a Neil Young hippie type thing.

Nothing wrong with correcting people respectfully. However, the “ignorant young whippersnappers don’t know their place, daring to question the great expert that is ME” attitude is uncalled for, even if you are in fact more knowledgeable. You could be Einstein himself talking to a bunch of college kids about physics and that attitude would still be obnoxious. Besides, CTR wasn’t at all disrespectful in how he phrased his opinion, his only crime was disagreeing with BRTZ75 wrote:seth wrote:That is true, and I have no doubt Black Rider knows more about metal than CTR. You do realize you are on a discussion board.
We disagree on stuff and eventually move on… you could ask questions til the cows come home, but people like to debate. It’s what we do!
But we also agree on lots of stuff.
