Really? Sad But True and The God That Failed are some of their heaviest songs. The Struggle Within, Wherever I May Roam, Holier Than Thou. They are just as heavy as what came before.

Sad But True is their second heaviest song behind TTTSNB. It's not opinion it's fact.

Heavy doesn't mean down-tuned and slow. SBT and TTTSNB are up there, but idk... I'd argue for Dyer's eve, but that's more fast than heavy.

I didn't say St. Anger is good . Dyers Eve is arguably their thrashiest but speed doesn't = heavy.

Ik I was saying that people have no reason to hate you for saying St. Anger was the heaviest

I think Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth deserves a mention. Extremely precise and tight rhythm player.

Schaffer is very precise. I just wish he knew more than 3 riffs. 🤪

He knows four. I like Iced Earth, they kept American metal alive in the 90s.

I like them too, they just get repetitive, especially later in their career.

After The Glorious Burden they get spotty but they still have some great songs in there and the last album is pretty good.

Agreed, good songs here and there after TGB—which is one of my favorites from them.

They are both great!

James Hetfield is more testosterone fueled grit to his Ooo yeaaaah, style vocals that is, perhaps, the perfect voice for thrash. Jimmy has a deeper, rounded out tone, clean vocal style that's more versatile and flexible than Hetfield's voice.

I really like James's vocals, but Jimmy is my favorite metal singer, so by definition of favorite I prefer him lol

^Think I like Hetfield's vocals for thrash, for m it's a a better fit, probably the best thrash vocal style of all time (not including extreme thrash here)

But Jimmy is the better overall vocalist in my opinion

Yeah, there are a lot of guys who are just as tight on rhythm guitar as Jaymz:  Jeff Waters, the guys in Morbid Saint, D. Michael Heald, Scott Ian, etc.

Jeff Waters is a monster player.
