For sure. In my opinion, they’ve never released a bad album, it’s just that some are better than others. XR is kind of middle of the road for their catalogue.

Love at first listen. I wasn't halfway into it when I proclaimed it to be the best Epic Heavy/Doom Metal album of the year. This from a band that started in 1971

FYI, in 2015 they re-grouped after a 22 year hiatus
Since then they released: 2 full length studio albums, a live album, a boxed set and an EP

The vocal style (the first 4 albums) before they broke up in 1991 takes a lot to get used to. I like how Tim Baker sounds now much better

I'd also rank it somewhere in the middle, but I like it a lot. Like a lot of their newer stuff, it's not very dark, but it's got a lot of groove and nice leads.

I've been listening to a lot of Hate Eternal. I met Erik Rutan a couple nights ago and talked with him for about thirty minutes about his lyrics and about life and spirituality. It was a great conversation. He was playing with Cannibal Corpse on their tour with Mayhem, Gorguts, and Blood Incantation. Gorguts played an old school set with almost all of the songs they played selected from Considered Dead. Luc Lemay signed my Gorguts stuff. I even talked with Hellhammer for awhile and got him to sign my Antestor CDs!
