Re: Kat Von D conversion to Christianity
I was wary at first because of unfounded rumors like the supposed Marilyn Manson conversion. There’s no confession from him, or a public display (like the Kat Von D baptism video). I think I read that he said it’s “his business”… why would he hide it? He’s known for stirring up publicity.

but, I'm glad she's in the Faith now although I can't seem to find what sort of church she goes to, etc.

Hopefully she becomes a shining light and good example to her fans. Seeds will be planted if she goes out and speaks openly about her conversion (like Brian “Head” Welch from Korn does).

I agree! It's pretty cool!
Good for her! I'm glad she ditched all the occult, witchcraft, tarot stuff too! all that stuff is dark and toxic

When you have a public personality who posted about it on their public Instagram, that dog is gonna run whether we say anything here or not. Apparently, she WANTED people to know about her conversion. Why not honor and celebrate that another lost sheep has come home?

I agree but I'm also glad she had the boldness to let everyone know... she's not teaching or disciplining other people. I'm proud for her. She's cool... I saw her once at a tattoo convention in Atlanta but I didn't speak to her or meet her. I read her book too.
she seems nice and polite.

She could help people get out of witchcraft from her experience. God has a plan for her.

Pethead wrote:There’s no waiting period like that in the NT. The pattern is get saved, get baptized, proclaim Jesus.
Pagans who wanted to become Christians had to go through at least a rudimentary catechesis before baptism (also, salvation does not come before baptism, sorry).

Theonymic, just a quick question for clarity.Theonymic wrote:Pethead wrote:There’s no waiting period like that in the NT. The pattern is get saved, get baptized, proclaim Jesus.

If you’re saying that pagans need to undergo catechesis before baptism, but that baptism precedes salvation, are you saying their salvation is purposefully delayed until catechesis is complete?
Thanks, I’m more familiar with Roman Catholic theology than Orthodox, so I need clarity here.

Re: Kat Von D conversion to Christianity
There's no command to force a waiting period, for sure, but it's about instruction, not time. The Didache predates some books of the NT itself, which means that there was a need to circulate such instructional material very early on.Pethead wrote:I’m not really looking to debate the relationship of baptism to salvation. My point was simply that there is no NT command to force a waiting period for baptism and testimony.
A great deal of the early converts were Judeans, Israelite diaspora (which might actually have included the Ethiopian eunuch), and pagan God-fearers, for all of whom less instruction would have been needed.
I haven't seen this woman's posts/videos, so I can't say much about her specifically, but in generally it's very important that a convert (or even someone who has been Christian for many years!) submit to a spiritual father in terms of what they should try to tell others about the faith.

Re: Kat Von D conversion to Christianity
I do agree that Christians of all levels should submit to others and continue to be trained. That’s one reason why I think the pattern of mission in Acts is to go out in at least pairs, if not larger groups.
My point in my initial post a few days ago was just that I don’t see it as wrong for her to immediately publicize her faith.

If she's just saying "I've become a Christian," I'm wondering what the controversy would be.Pethead wrote:My point in my initial post a few days ago was just that I don’t see it as wrong for her to immediately publicize her faith.
