Rank The FIFTH ANGEL albums
I did not get into Fifth Angel much back in the day. I never understood all the hype regarding their debut.
Anyway, once I finally heard the 2nd album, I liked them a lot more. They have a long, checkered history of personnel changes and musicians quitting or being unfairly fired, but just taking the music into account, how would you rank their 3 albums?
This would be my ranking:
Time Will Tell (1989)
Fifth Angel (1986)
The Third Secret (2018)

My ranking would be exactly the same.
The self-titled was a great album, but Time Will Tell seemed to have more memorable songs. I have to say I was surprised to hear Kendall and Ken were working on that last album. I thought I remember reading somewhere that they tried to get the original singer (Ted Pilot) to sing on the album, but he just wasn't interested (currently a dentist, or something of that nature). So apparently Kendall ended up signing and recording guitars for the album. Oddly enough Kendall left the band not too long after the album came out. I thought it turned out pretty good considering all that.

Time Will Tell is the only one I really like, the other two or okay but nothing memorable.

From the debut album "Cry Out The Fool" and "In The Fallout" were really memorable for me. But I really dig all three albums.

I like the first album quite a bit. "Call Out The Warning" is probably my favorite from that one.
Haven't heard Time Will Tell in quite a while and haven't heard the most recent one yet. I'll check it out soon.
Great band though!

I read the lord of the rings trilogy listening to the first 2 so they are forever intertwined and each reflects the other when I listen to the tunes or read the books.

Fifth Angel
The Third Secret
Time Will Tell
Time Will Tell was good, but I could hear the push from the record company in a commercial direction. On The Third Secret they finally got back to being Fifth Angel.

Nice!
That's kind of how it is with me listening to a lot of Manowar and Accept while playing Diablo II back in the day. Those bands are now intertwined with that game LOL!

I agree! When Angels Kill is a fantastic album. For those interested, they will be playing at ProgPower USA this year.

Not even close. Although it is similar to the first Guardian album if that's your bag. Clean, soulful vocals over virtuoso-like guitar playing. Guess you could describe it like heavy AOR or AOR metal.StevenCressler wrote:This Seventh Angel's little brother?

Re: Rank The FIFTH ANGEL albums
I remember a small article many years ago in a metal magazine about the guitarist James Byrd.
I had no idea what they sound like.

I tried to listen to the debut yesterday and didn't like it at all. And I LOVE stuff like Queenrysche, Fates Warning, Crimson Glory, Sacred Warrior, Heir Apparent, Screamer, Scarlet Rayne, etc.
