Bands with longest time between new studio albums
Assuming Ariel releases their new album this year, it will have been approximately 35 years since the release of their last album, the self titled Ariel from 1986.
When Trytan released Blood of Kings this year, it had been 31 years since their last studio album, 1990's Sylentiger.
Armageddon USA released Up In Flames in 2015 (has it really been 6 years since that came out, sheeesh), and prior to that it was The Money Mask from 1989. That's 26 years.
What are some of the other longest gaps between new music?
Does anyone beat Ariel?

A few of these newer releases demonstrate a departure from the lyrical focus of the past, but just for illustrative purposes:
Detritus - 28 years between last album and Myths.
Bloodgood - 22 years between last album and Dangerously Close
Sacred Warrior - 22 years since last studio album and Waiting In Darkness
Barren Cross - 18 years between last album and Birth Pangs
Seventh Angel - 17 years before last album and The Dust Of Years
King James - 16 years between last album and MaXimus
If Precious Death releases a new album in 2021, it will have been 25 years since their 3rd, self-titled album.
I guess no one has Ariel beat, but then again I have never heard them to they would be new to me anyway.
Would be nice to see a new album from Recon, Letter 7, Thunderchild, Haven. Novella, Lengsel, Ashen Mortality, Ransom, and others. Most of those probably will never happen but it would be cool nonetheless....

I could not believe this actually happening but I have to give them kudos for seeing it through.

Yeah, that is definitely remarkable. From what I understand, it is basically the same sound too (I will pass on listening for myself and just rely on the opinion of others.. )

GOOD. Okay, where were we? Ariel. From Victoria, Canada, right? Not to be confused with other bands of the same name. 35 years since their self-titled.
Take a listen here to a couple up coming songs

Dale Thompson.
Not record setting or anything, but Antestor releases have been sparse this century. I don't even think there's a new one in the works and it's been longer than the gap between The Forsaken and Omen already.
Extol has been creating some pretty big gaps (not broken up as far as I know).
We might see another Frosthardr album by 2032 if they stay on pace.
Frost Like Ashes had their first new release since 2005 this year (an EP with album in the works).
Sympathy is supposedly working on his first since 2008 (sounds familar )
