I want to see Metallica do a comp of the best songs from Load and the best songs from ReLoad and I guarantee it would be much better.
Then you would have a comp of maybe...two songs. Throw in St. Anger, and you would have a comp of possibly two songs.
King Nothing, Hero Of The Day, Until It Sleeps, The Outlaw Torn, Fuel, The Unforgiven II, Carpe Diem Baby, Fixxxer. Adding St. Anger wouldn't fit at all but here, Frantic, St. Anger, Some Kind Of Monster, Dirty Window, Invisible Kid, Purify(if chorus vocals aren't off-key)
You must REALLY love Thrash.
Well.... L and RL are not thrash... at all. They're Alt. Metal or something like that. St. Anger is Nu Metal. Actually maybe Nu Thrash. But, yeah I love thrash. But may love for thrash is not the reason for me liking those songs. I like them because they are good and/or have potential.

No, you are correct. I have a tendency to look at Metallica the way I do Bride. Sure they do albums that are not really in their wheelhouse, but for what they are mainly known for is what I see them as. So when I see Metallica, I think Thrash regardless.

Usually, I have found those that find some potential in Load, Reload, St. Anger, or even LuLu are die hard Thrash fans that just love Thrash in general. Nothing at all wrong with that and it might even be a light stereotype.

I will always poke at Metallica though.  Twisted Evil

L and RL sound good, but they should've been one shorter album imo. St. Anger is brought down by bad production, the snare, and lack of guitar solos and is fixable, but even if it wasn't it's very important because it kept Metallica from basically exploding. Lulu is Lulu, enough said.
