Review of Styx Concert 05/20/2019

My review of Styx in concert from their May 20, 2019 show in Morristown, New Jersey.   What an incredible show!

Nice, I need to go see them again. Haven't seen them since 2006 and at the time the set list was kind of stale so I said I wouldn't go again until they freshened it up. Looks like they have.

This was my first time seeing the band live, but I am well aware of their repetitive set lists over the years.  As I mentioned I would love to hear some deeper cuts.  I would even be open to seeing them perform Paradise Theater in full.  I know it will probably never happen but I would be ecstatic if they played Don't Let It End, Double Life, Haven't We Been Here Before and Just Get Through This Night.

Sounds like a fun time. I loved Mission so it's nice they include it and don't just stick to the hits.

By the way they are working on a follow up to The Mission hoping to release in the summer of 2020.

I see they dropped Babe from the set list.  Probably as a slight to DeYoung.  Anyway, good call on their part - fit in something for the more dedicated fans.

They actually never played Babe with this line-up and they said it was out of respect for Dennis. Said the song was personal and about his wife so they didn't want to play it. However, they did play it one time in Tokyo at the request of the promoter back in 1999.

I'd want to hear Babe, kind of song my wife and I enjoy together. I get why they don't though.

The show was incredible.  I expected a good show, but they far exceeded my expectations.   Mixing in some of the new songs really enhances the whole show.  I hope that I get the opportunity to see them live again.

I do not think that it is a slight to Dennis since they recently added Mr Roboto to the set list.

That is great news since The Mission is one of their best albums.  Perhaps next year we can get a Styx/Kansas co-headline tour.
