Looking for Band Suggestions
So whats up everybody sorta kinda new. Used to have an account here years and years ago in yon ancient times but life got in the way and I was working days that did not allow for me to have time to peruse forums. Anywho I do now so I am checking out whats going on here because Im on a search for new music. I am looking for newer bands that have strong Christian witness and/or edifying lyrics. What I mean by edifying is that they have a strong Christian perspective. That means that even if they have songs that may not seem blatantly Christian such as mentioning God, Jesus, or any Theology at all, they still address there topics in a way that would not seem at odds with Biblical ethics or perspectives but rather in line with a Christian worldview. Musically Im very open minded to all genres rock and metal......punk not so much. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer guys God Bless!

Re: Looking for Band Suggestions
I would also recommend my own blues rock album. Look for Big Chris & D'Bare Bones Band. The only album I have out right now is called "When Your Time Comes". If you like music in the vein of Glenn Kaiser Band, George Thorogood, ZZ Top, etc., then this will be right up your alley. The songs are either blatantly Christian or speak about issues that I believe the Lord would want us to highlight so that they can be changed. There are two silly songs on there as well.

Three albums that have not been released yet but are available for preorder at Boone's Overstock:
Bride - Snake Eyes (return to their Snakes In The Playground sound)
Jimmy P. Brown's Eraserhead (think middle era Deliverance--even has the same era lineup of musicians!)
Perpetual Paranoia - The Reapers (S. American thrash band that has Dale Thompson of Bride as vocalist)

Re: Looking for Band Suggestions
Also, Rey Parra's new band Deny The Fallen which will have a very upfront Christian message will be releasing soon.
Re: Looking for Band Suggestions
Most Christian black metal has very blatant Christian lyrics due to the extreme nature of the genre. I can recommend some if you are interested in this genre and give me some examples of what kinds of black metal you like.

Re: Looking for Band Suggestions
Welcome back, ForgedByFire! Much the same as you, I was on here quite a bit some years back though life's seasons oft route our respective courses in different directions.
I'm typically hesitant to mention band endeavors I've been involved with, yet you are seeking options, and others have mentioned their endeavors so I feel it's okay to share:
From 1993 - 2003 I was in a Christian rock band called Narrow Road: We'd released some albums, performed among a four-state area and were privileged to meet and share the stage with some bigger acts.
You mentioned you were seeking edifying lyrics and were open to all genres rock / metal. Narrow Road fit into the rock category, though ran the gamut between hard rock to acoustic offerings. Many lyrics are direct, some parabolic, all Biblically based.
I'd like to invite you to check out our music page. For hard rock/hard blues may I suggest our "Counting All the Clues" or "In the Hear and Now and Then" albums. If a more laid back/acoustic mood hits, may I suggest our "As Bridges Burn" album. For ambient/ethereal, please consider "The Corridor of Evermore" EP.
I wish you well on your journey with discovering all the amazing bands out there. I first got into Christian rock/metal in the early 80's - like 1982 - and there was but a handful of bands to glean from at the time.
Blessings and all the best!

Though there are many good bands with lyrics that fit your description, I don't think you can get any better than Theocracy. The music is killer, but more importantly the lyrics are well-thought-out. Maybe more than simply "in line with a Christian worldview", since Matt writes from a very obvious Christian worldview. The thing that Theocracy does better than the rest is the wide range of topics covered. Salvation, faith through trials, conquering temptation, the sovereignty of God's design, allegories, topical Biblical stories, Christmas songs...it's really something.
