Fleshkiller - Awaken (Ft. members of Extol and The Burial)
Fleshkiller just signed to Facedown Records of all places
Definetly excited to hear this!
Excerpt from Facedown Press Release:
We are so excited to announce that Fleshkiller will be joining the Facedown family for the North American release of their debut album “Awaken” which mixes old school death metal with rich harmonic prog fusion.
Facedown fans will recognize Fleshkiller guitarists/vocalists Ole Børud and Elisha Mullins from Extol and The Burial respectively. “Awaken” was mixed by Facedown’s own Jack C Daniels (War of Ages, Hope for the Dying), so there are plenty of reasons to get hyped about this new release!
First single drops with pre-orders on June 30. “Awaken” will be released in September on Facedown in North American and Indie Recordings for the rest of the world.

Ole Børud was the best thing that ever happened to Extol, and his Schaliach album was awesome. I'm looking forward to this. Cool artwork.

Anyone know whether the band is considered a "Christian band" or not?

The lyrics to me are fairly obviously ChristianKerrick wrote:Anyone know whether the band is considered a "Christian band" or not?
They are on a Christian label
And have members from other prominent Christian bands
I would say yes

Lyrical video for Parallel Kingdom seems nice and blunt.
Very excited for this record!

Right on. I listened to the video but was at work so didn't notice the lyrics.

I would enjoy this band sooo much more without the core vocals ....but that's just me.

Haha I find that funny
Because thats what I want more of
I couldnt really get into the last Extol album because of the clean singing being such a drastic change from the brutal vocals

Some want singing,
Some want core,
Some want death,
We all want more!

Sounds like they've got a real mix of clean/prog, thrash, and core vocals -- none of which are generic. I like the variety. Not a huge fan of the clean/prog singing, though, so I hope for more thrash and core sounding vox.

The music is pretty good. The core vocals make me sad I will probably still buy it.

^This song sounded much more -core to me. My excitement for this album is waning... I probably should've waited to preorder until I heard more. We'll see though.

Awesome song! Liked it a lot more than the first one.
No traces of the prog vocals, which is what I didnt like, so it made it better
Good driving death metal so far

Re: Fleshkiller - Awaken (Ft. members of Extol and The Burial)
This album was released today. Who else has heard the whole thing? After several listens, I gotta say that this is blowing me away. Take the heaviest parts of Extol's last album and you've got Fleshkiller. I was not expecting much, but this is awesome.
And for those who are curious, the lyrics are explicitly Christian on many of these songs. "True Image" basically has worship lyrics.

From my first listen, I'm definitely liking it quite a bit. I'm really looking forward to digging into it more with repeated listens.
And yeah, from the bits of the lyrics I picked up, it's quite explicitly Christian which is great.
