"After The Fall" is a masterpiece of epic doom.
The other albums were a bit more spotty in my opinion.
But they are clearly one of the more talented epic doom bands out there.

I'm with Mark on this one. They're all very solid albums, but Dominaeon is my favorite.

Dominaeon is my favorite. Completely amazing.
I actually think Pentateuch may be just as good but has some weird inconsistent production, being recorded over many years. Some songs are 100% spot on and other have odd bass recording or drum recording. It takes away from the flow and the full album experience.
I have every full length from Anima Mundi on. I didn't care for that so I never went back to get the debut.

Do the band members of Forsaken profess to be Christians? I ask because some of their early lyrics are not what I’d call walking in the Spirit (use of “M-F*****” on their first album). Seems like their lyrics get more biblical as time goes on.

I've read interviews with them in the past. I'd say they came across more like cultural Catholics. Not evangelicals. I can't say where they are spiritually now though, but I never considered them a "Christian band" in the sense of like Bloodgood or Messenger or bands like that.

You should keep in my that in general, foul language tends to not really have the same 'weight' when it's not in your native language. It's been a journey for me as well.

This. Furthermore, the biblical commands related to language have more to do with context and intent than the actual words themselves. (Not that I’m encouraging you use those words).Andreas89 wrote:You should keep in my that in general, foul language tends to not really have the same 'weight' when it's not in your native language. I don’t have a problem listening to secular bands with Christiany lyrics, but I am curious. Trouble has been my go to for doom metal for years. When I jam Psalm 9 I always think to myself “this would be the best Christian metal album of all time if ‘Bastards are Gonna Pay’ was not on it.” Kinda surprised now I feel the same way about Forsaken’s status after finally listening to them.

What's interesting is if you look at the booklet, that one line is missing, though it's quite clearly heard!
They've got some pretty boldly Christian lyrics and some relatively deep theological ones too (though I do believe they're coming from a Catholic perspective). I'd still consider them to be a "Christian band" but as Constantine mentioned, not in the same way as Bloodgood or Messenger, etc. They're top-tier epic doom regardless. I was actually just cranking After The Fall in the car.
