I saw it today as well. I was completely underwhelmed.
Re: Recently Watched Movies
Watched the 1990 Captain America tv movie. Action wise it was WAY more entertaining than the 70's tv movies. But it was super cheesy and the Caps actor was not that great. But for 90's TV fare, it was good.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
I am now confirming that I am not a Spider-Man fan. I did not enjoy the Tobey Maguire flicks. I did not enjoy the Andrew Garfield flicks. I did not enjoy the Tom Holland flick, although I did enjoy it more than the others.
Spider-Man just does not do it for me.
I appreciate that the movie was well made and it had that nice Marvel touch and great humor, it just was not for me.

Then I discovered Batman
Anyway, I enjoy the first two Spider-man's, haven't watched them that much though
I just cant get how so many remakes can be done and still have them be successful (I guess cause its in the MCU)
I get you though that's all I'm saying

I loved the first two Tobey Maguire films. The third got a little too cheesy and there were too many baddies running around without enough character development for them.
The first Andrew Garfield flick was fun, but the 2nd wasn't. I hated the way they made Electro to be so dumb.
To be honest, I didn't care so much for this new one. No spider sense? That is a major part of the character? Too much Stark tech reliance in the Spider suit? Not while Parker was in high school.
To me, it is like we've had 3 incarnations of Spider-Man and none of them got him 100% right.

Wow, good point. I didn't even notice that he had no spidey sense.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Finally watched Man of Steel. A different take on Superman, but I rather enjoyed it. I liked Henry Cavill as Superman, Michael Shannon as Zor, and Russell Crowe as Jor-El. Really liked how they handled Krypton and all the Kryptonian technology, giving it a truly alien look. The only thing I was kind of lukewarm on was Amy Adams as Lois Lane. I like her as an actress, but she just didn't work out that well here.
Also watched the Lego Batman Movie. Entertaining, if a little bit disappointing. It was funny, just not as funny as I had hoped it would be. Maybe I'd just heard too much hype. Still, there was a lot to like. Will Arnett was great as the voice of Batman. He also used the phrase "because I'm Batman," which was an added plus. Most of the voicework was good, in fact. The notable exception was Zack Gal-whathisface as the Joker. He was awful. Just such a weak performance.
No spidey sense? That's a pretty big part of what makes Spider-Man so formidable. Sounds like a pretty bad idea to me.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
I was expecting this to be basically an extended episode of Batman: The Animated Series, and that would be have been fine with me. I love that show. What I found though is the best Batman movie ever. Great movie all around. And of course, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are outstanding as Batman and the Joker, respectively. In fact, I think this is Hamill's best performance as the Joker, at least that I've seen.
My only complaint is that it should have been longer. It's only 76 minutes, and there were definitely enough good ideas in it for a longer film.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
I've been watching a tremendous amount of movies lately.
But I only remember a relatively few of the titles:
Hidden Figures (everyone should watch this)
John Wick 2 (similar to JW 1)
Spider-Man Homecoming (only for die hard Spidey fans)
Logan (I liked it!)
WONDER WOMAN!!!!! (Maybe my fave of 2017!!!)
LIFE http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5442430/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Ghost in the Shell http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1219827/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Forsaken http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2271563/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_5
xXx: Return of Xander Cage
Transformers: The Last Knight
The Lost City of Z http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1212428/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Southpaw http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1798684/?ref_=nv_sr_1
War Dogs
Heading out to the theater in an hour to see
War for the Planet of the Apes

I felt like Amy handled the Lois character well in making her a truly serious journalist who would do anything for a story. She was smart and good at getting herself into trouble and out most of the time.
All in all, I loved Man Of Steel. Instead of being this campy boy scout of a character as we've grown accustomed to in the past, Superman wrestles with his powers, how people were going to view him, how to handle super evil beings while learning to protect the general populace, etc. You truly see Supes struggle to become the man he was meant to be--a hero. He doesn't get it all right straight out of the box. He doesn't quite get there until after the fight with Batman in BvS, and that cost him his life. Of course, we know he will be resurrected in Justice League.

Yeah, as origin stories go, it was pretty great. I definitely like how they dealt with his character.
Batman and Mr Freeze: Sub-Zero
Pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting much from this direct-to-video release, but it was a surprisingly good Batman movie. A few scenes weren't all they could have been, but overall it was well done. And it was good to see Michael Ansara's Mr. Freeze in action again. He was my favorite Batman TAS villain next to the Joker.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Watched Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes this morning and hope to see the new one tomorrow.
Re: Recently Watched Movies
Rewatched Fantastic Four (2015) with the family. We all agreed that it sucked. My daughter wanted to rewatch the 2005 version, which we all loved.
Re: Recently Watched Movies
I thought that the first two were fine except for the weak Dr. Doom character. If they had made him more mean and more threatening, I think it would have been a better series. Of course, there was this campy feel to the first two Fantastic Four films, but the whole comic & cartoons of old were campy.
