Really? Why not pleasant? I saw Whitecross at a different time. Great show though!

Re: Rez Band Hostage question....
This is my Rez Band collection. I am currently looking for the Bootleg album on CD then my collection will be complete. Hostage and Bootleg were the first albums I heard from this band. My Dad worked at a Pentecostal school board and back in 1985 he taped off Hostage and Bootleg on each side of a 90 minute cassette tape. I played that cassette constantly and it was one of my first introduction to Christian hard rock along with Daniel Band (Run From the Darkness), Jerusalem (In His Majesty's Service) and Stryper (Yellow and Black Attack and Soldiers). I eventually bought the Hostage and Bootleg cassettes (shown here) at a Christian store at a trip to Prince Edward Island in the summer of 1986. I remember there was Petra Never Say Die and Captured in Time and Space records there as well. I should of snagged these as well. Fun times...and the memories!

I'll probably pay more than anyone has ever offered for the original CD of "Hostage" and "Bootleg" on either the original label or GRRR.

Re: Rez Band Hostage question....
Both Hostage and Bootleg were released on Vinyl and cassette only. So cd versions on Grrr are re-issues.

Oteis, that's the version of Hostage that I have on CD - the Grrrr Records reissue. I'm currently looking for that version of Bootleg on CD, which will complete my Rez collection.

When I first saw this thread, I thought someone took the Rez Band hostage...

Did you ever secure the original Bootleg you were looking for?

Interesting to think about these. I really enjoy Between Heaven and Hell. A number of classic songs and some of the new wave style tracks are enjoyable (I actually love Alice Cooper's Zipper Catches Skin album if that helps). However, though Hostage and Bootleg Live are two of just a few REZ albums I don't own, I'm not generally a live album person and I'm not sure I'd like Hostage at all.

BH&H is one of my favorite Rez albums. (Zuid Afrikan and Shadows are two of the greatest songs ever written). I like Hostage a lot more than most, but it’s a little too new-wave in spots. But there are some GREAT tunes on it, especially the more classic Rez-sounding ones.

There are the trend-chasing songs, but there are some serious hard-rock/metal tunes.

Hostage is the only studio album of Rex's that I don't have as far as when they were signed.
If any of these Christian labels want to really impress me, they will release their "Music To Raise The Dead By" album they did as an indie release. I would be all over that!

I have that cassette reissue.
I believe they did two cassette demos prior to Awaiting Your Reply: Music to Raise the Dead and another more acoustic. The covers had the same band photo but was image reversed for one of them. I'm totally in line with alldat on getting these back out in CD format.

Hostage has some cool songs, but I hated "Armageddon Appetite". I am also glad to see that I am not the only person who doesn't care for live albums. Where I do make exceptions is when someone does a live album of new songs. Lincoln Brewster, when he still did rock worship, did one this way and it was fabulous.

I would be okay with the cassette copy. I could still transfer that to the computer, remaster it, and have it in MP3 format. I would just need a decent copy of the tape.

And yeah, Armageddon Appetite is the worst thing they ever recorded. Yikes.
