Indeed good album cover art is in the eye of the beholder. I included the cover to Carry The Wounded because I thought it really conveyed what the song/album is about in a real way. No, it won't win any design awards, but it does a great job of relating the message.

The entire Rob Rock discography pretty much qualifies.The cover art for California Metal and the Axemen and Classic Metal compilation albums should also be considered.

Yeah, Rob Rock has some good covers!

I've always loved the cover for the first California Metal album! The second California Metal was kind of a boring cover though. Both had great music!

Nah, honestly, I just chose ATWB because it was the newest and I thought you did both. MOS is great. The lettering all over was a great and really showed the detail well.

Eye of the beholder is very true. I also think context matters. "Art" that makes a great metal album cover isn't art that would work most other places. This beholder loves most of the covers in this thread as album covers.

I'm not trying to start a disagreement: I think you make a good point. I'm curious though what covers you like.

I used to really love that King's X cover above too. Tons of theological meaning in that.
