Just a few days left. Not only is this the first wedding for one of our children, but it is my oldest daughter AND I'm performing the ceremony.

Yesterday was our first wedding anniversary!  Dang I can't believe it's already been a whole year!  It's just flown by.  We had a delightful day at church, picnicking at the place I proposed, a movie, and eating leftover cake from our wedding.

I'll spare the details, or level of importance - for multiple reasons - but.... I feel quite good about it and teamwork is amazing.

Haha yes, we froze it and it tasted mighty fine!  Veronika's sister made our cakes* which was extra special.  And yeah, I can't believe how quickly the time has gone by...  Just unbelievable.


*We had two: one made with beer and another with coffee and both turned out quite good.

I usually burn a bit once or twice a year.  I didn't get outdoors as much this past summer.  That is mostly from mowing the grass, one week of kids camp, and a week of mission trip on the streets of Memphis.  Most of my tan won't fade until around February.

One of my favourite beers is an Imperial Stout brewed with coffee. Should've gone for that and made one cake.

Nice.  Any specific brand?  North Coast Brewery's Old Rasputin imperial stout is a fairly readily-available one here and it's quite good.  If you haven't had that one, I recommend it.  However, Boneyard Beer's Suge Knite is hands-down the best imperial stout I've ever had.  If you are ever able to get ahold of some, do yourself a favor and do it!

Aww thanks guys!  This first year has been a bit of a wild one, but a very good year.  As part of celebrating, we took a little trip to New Hampshire* which we just got back from Wednesday night.  We had a great time and got to go on a couple really neat hikes.  I'll post pictures in the Metalheads Who Hike thread when I'm on my home computer.  Also, a big thank you to Grindboy who is the best travel agent you could ask for!  He gave us a ton of awesome recommendations for hikes as well as other fun places to go.  He was extremely helpful and made what would've been a good trip into an excellent trip we'll remember fondly for the remainder of our years.    Before we even left, we were already planning our next trip out that way to go on all the other hikes we didn't manage to fit in this time.



*We got suckered into a basically free stay at a hotel for the price of listening to a two-hour attempt to get us to buy a timeshare.  We said no.    The resort they were trying to sell was very nice, though the hotel they put us in was pretty hokey.  But for ~free, we can't complain [much] haha.
