The Brave

I don't see how having a female singer is "sneaking up" on anyone.  Their previous vocalist had died.  I can see wanting to recreate the band while drawing from what they had built many years before.  "Rise" does exactly that.  It allowed a veteran band to reintroduce some songs with the new singer while adding some new songs as well.  I thought they handled it fairly well as they did tell people they would only be getting 4-5 new songs.  People reacted better to King James just giving up their debut with 2-3 new songs and calling it a "new album". 

As for "Rise", they needed a better mix and mastering job.  I think that would have made this album be more beloved by their fan base.

I liked the new singer! Especially in Trust-era songs she sounds great!

I hope the new album with new material will materialize. The Brave was easily one  of my favourite bands of the 90´s.

I am in the process of remastering "Rise" just for my own benefit.  I must say that the songs sound HUGE now.  I think that, if they had used my remaster, fans would have grabbed ahold of the new sound and singer much better.  This rocks now!

By keeping it a secret. Remember how people were asking who their new singer was, but the band never would reveal it? That's how.

I don't see it that way.  They wanted it to be a surprise.  That was their right and the mystery seemed to fuel a little buzz about the group.  That's just marketing.

Personally, I think more fans were upset by it being a woman rather than the way they presented her.  I thought she did a great job.  The mix was more of an issue for me, and I still like the album.  I hope they do many more together.

You call it marketing, I call it trickery. They knew that some people might hold off on buying the album until they heard her if they'd known it was a woman. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

I can speak only for myself. The singer being female meant nothing to me in and of itself. I like a woman singer just fine. I just don't like this particular one.

Dirty water, cant let the devil win, runnin all my life great songs. James slater soaring vocalist from battle cries my favorite. If you want another "The Brave" album checkout Faithnation. A little softer than battle cries but james can still sing.
