My grandmother had heart surgery for a valve replacement and bypass and all went well! Praise God!

Re: Random thoughts...
My wife almost never thanks me for anything; it's just a fact I have more-or-less learned to live with these last 22 years. However, this evening she commented about our oldest daughter "not being good about saying thank you." AARRGGHH! I don't think I have ever bitten my tongue so hard!
Sorry ... I had to share this with someone!

Winter sucks bad enough without halving to add getting up early. I hate the days that I have to get up before noon.... Thank God that doesn't happen very often.

Dang dude, that's frustrating... Does she say thank-you in other ways though? Maybe not verbally but with a hug or look or smile or something? I dunno, that could be something you mention to her - how you like to spoil her and love on her but it'd make you feel a lot better if she more clearly expressed her gratefulness?

Re: Random thoughts...
Yeah, she shows gratitude in her own way. Like I said, after 22 years I've learned it's just who she is. But the irony of the situation was killing me; one of those "pot calling the kettle black" scenarios.

Re: Random thoughts...
Gotcha. Yes, us men like to spoil our ladies and having someone who's grateful for that is pretty huge. I realize that I tend to be really encouraging verbally to girls I date or just people I love in general, but I dated a gal for a little while that was always fishing for compliments. I ended up having to encourage her because she wanted/needed it, not because I wanted to. That was really rough for me (and her of course too). We both learned a lot in that relationship and by God's grace have somehow managed to become friends since!

Got TWO Christmas parties to attend tonight! And I gotta work tomorrow... Haha fun times. In other news, my friend's mom did a wonderful job sewing a sweet ~11"x14" Iron Maiden patch onto my jacket for me last night and it looks excellent. It's of their debut s/t album.

Re: Random thoughts...
Today's sermon was so awesome that someone fainted! No, it was awesome, but I can't confirm that's why the elderly lady fainted. She was two rows in front of me. She leaned to the right then fell onto the pew bench. They laid her down and confirmed she was breathing. She sounded like she was snoring at some point during it. So, if y'all could pray for her, that'd be great.
Also, the sermon was good. They were playing music with those bells. And then I remembered the melody:
During Christmas time, I start to recognize so many songs that I know have been covered by metal bands. Also, he brought up the song title "The God Who Failed Us" in describing how many Jews viewed Jesus, they expected something else. He said it was a NIN song. Actually, I previously remember him stating that title in another sermon and someone said it was Metallica and I remembered that. Kinda sad I didn't know it myself because I just looked it up and realized I owned that CD. Oh well.

Indeed! So much to learn and so little time.
And on a completely unrelated note, I was walking through a walmart and saw an older guy a few times. The last time I saw him, he said something like "I gotta ask, what's that say on your shirt?" I looked down at my Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle-Earth shirt and said "Oh, this is a cover of the band Blind Guardian. It's their CD." "So, sorta like heavy metal?" "yeah." "Like Iron Maiden?" "Yeah!"
That was kinda cool.

For some people Christmas is 2 months. For some it's more months than that.

Re: Random thoughts...
I'm back in the studio today with my brother. It is hard to believe that it has been 4 years since we did any recording! Anyway, he had an idea for a fan song for a trucker radio show he listens to on XM Radio. So, we've laid the groundwork today (drums, bass, lead vocals, sound effects) for this blues based diddy. I've still got to write & record the guitar parts. If it turns out cool, we might share it here. If it's really cool, I will just write some new lyrics, redo the vocal parts, and make this a new song for an upcoming Mission Of One song. I might as well use it!
Re: Random thoughts...
It was a lot of fun, and it might even serve to get my creative juices flowing again. I am hoping to work with a better vocalist this time around and really take MO1 to a whole new level than even what was done on "Hostile To The Gospel".
Re: Random thoughts...
Wow..the weather is crazy. We had 2 sandstorms this week. Very unusual for this time of year. Today our humidity is 9% and the wind is blowing 25 mph and its 75 degrees....We are having to run the humidifier and stay indoors..

Driven wrote:Are you still going to be using that 7-string for any new songs/albums?
You betcha! I didn't buy it to not use it on some tracks. There will be some songs that will still be in standard tuning, but I will probably still use the 7 string as I like the pickups in it a lot. I think I will get a better metal sound with it.
Re: Random thoughts...
Just don't play it too much before you record with it . . . don't want all of the metal music going out of it.
