Top 2 Metallica albums

I wanted to do the top 3 thing I did with Megadeth... but the top 3 Metallica albums are pretty well agreed upon, even if it isn't universal... so pick 2 instead!

My choice is easy: Master and Justice. They're my top 2 albums from anyone.

I’d say my favorite overall is Ride the Lightning, with MoP coming in second because of the title track

The title track and Sanitarium are my top 2 on the album, with Disposable Heroes as a close third

72 seasons: It's been a long while since a metal album of this caliber has bestowed itself upon the general Metal population. Metallica does it again, crafting epic masterpiece after epic masterpiece after epic masterpiece after epic masterpiece after epic masterpiece.... 72 seasons can only be described in one word, EPIC.

Great choices. Lulu could be a contender as well, an avante-garde experimental masterpiece that pushed the bounds of our perception of music and art

^ It was a battle between 72 seasons or Lulu, but I had to go with the epic 72 seasons. I judged it based on the fact the songs are more epic and progressive.

I'm going to go a little off here. I say AJFA and 72S. AJFA is a masterpiece and I don't think I need to explain why. 72S is the best thing they have released since TBA and is absolutely amazing. James' vocals are arguably the best they've ever been, the guitar tone is awesome, the production is amazing(better than TBA imo), and Rob's bass crawls in an awesome way, like on the intro to Shadows Follow I believe(it's either SF or SWMLA).

Normally my top 2 would be AJFA and MOP. But two people have already picked that and even more will. So I chose an album that deserves more love, it's a masterpiece. S tier imo.

I agree that 72S is the best thing they've done since TBA.

Also TBA was the last time they actually had a killer rhythm guitar tone and I think Hetfield's vocals were the best on that album as well. He still had that 80s grit, but focused through actual singing.

I go back and forth between Death Magnetic and 72S as my favorite post-TBA. I think DM is more consistent, but the sound quality is absolute pants.

Those are my top 2 post TBA, and I find them both underrated. DM is pretty firmly my pick. I should make a new poll...

DOh! 2003! That was genuine mistake due to the process of speed typing. Never go faster than you think you can, it leads to unfortunate accidents. .

I think I figured out why I don't like RTL as much. How the album feels (prod plays a decent part in this, as does the album cover) is very important to me. RTL feels like in a dark sky, during a storm, with a decent amount of reverb. It's always felt weird and dark to me. TBA is different, it may be dark but it's just black, and there isn't that weird reverb thing.
