Neon Cross. Second album is awful and he sounds drunk on vocals.

Jesus Freaks. Might be better with better production but I wasn't excited about the new direction.

Lengsel and Sanctifica come to mind.  I do enjoy their second albums for what they are (Lengsel more so than Sanctifica), though both those bands' debuts are really something special that the follow-ups couldn't touch.

Armageddon. Love The Money Mask, but wasn’t big on Up in Flames.

Final Axe. The debut is a scorcher. The follow-up has some good tunes but is kinda meh in comparison.

Living Sacrifice. I actually like most of their stuff to varying degrees, but oh, how I wish they’d have stuck to the Slayer sound. (As does Kerrick).

Also, Dynasty went for a bit crunchier, more hard-rock approach with their follow-ups which isn't bad, but I do much prefer their debut that's more akin to early Angra.

I really like their debut but found the follow-up a letdown. I never checked out the third album. Their covers album was good.

IMO their third album is much better than their second.  It's a solid album and worth giving a try!

People here will hate me, but I think Last Train is a step down from the debut. The title track and Hallow’s Eve are awesome, and I like a few other songs, but the debut crushes it.

X-Sinner. Get It is a classic. Peace Treaty is largely forgettable.

Recon.  They botched it because they didn't make a 2nd album!   tongue

More seriously, I agree with most of the suggestions and would add Vengeance Rising.
