Top 10 Petra songs

What are your top 10 Petra songs and why?

10. Test of Time: One of their heaviest riffs, never thought I'd hear Petra doing 0-0-0, but it still was melodic like normal.
9. Midnight Oil: Such a catchy chorus. Not exactly a headbanger, but definitely a side-to-side head-bobber.
8. I Will Seek You: One of the best riffs on the album with their best riffs. A little short though.
7. Jekyll & Hyde: Heavy and has a great chorus, which are two of the most important things for me in music.
6. Breathe In: A much softer song but it's beautiful, both with the violins and the chorus.
5. Perfect World: Aside from the heavy riffs, there are some great hooks in the chorus, especially when the song title is said. And good lyrics.
4. Life As We Know It: One of the few J&H songs that isn't way too short, and with a great chorus. Best song from their best album imo.
3. This Means War!: Their most "epic" song with some of their most metal singing. Great lyrics and chorus, and I love the post-chorus keyboard solo.
2. For Annie: Not a big fan of this song musically, but man... those lyrics hit HARD. Really caught me off guard.
1. Mine Field: Good riff, but this has their best chorus for sure imo. Top-tier hard arena rock, Christian or secular.

That's a pretty good list. But, nothing from Beyond Belief or More Power To Ya'?

1. Underground - Beyond Belief
This song is incredible and probably has their best chorus.

2. Run For The Prize - More Power To Ya'
Bob's best solo hands down. Great chorus.

3. Defector - On Fire!
Their Thrashiest song imo. Amazing chorus and lyrics. Also where I got my band name from.

4. Beyond Belief
Sure, maybe it's really overplayed. But its amazing.

5. Mine Field - On Fire!
A great song, a great album.

6. I Will Seek You - Jekyll & Hyde
An amazing chorus. Would work great as a worship song too.

7. Till Everything I Do - Jekyll & Hyde
Amazing song lyrically and musically.

8. Woulda Shoulda Coulda - Jekyll & Hyde
Very catchy chorus.

9. Perfect World - Jekyll & Hyde
One of their heaviest songs.

10. Test Of Time - Jekyll & Hyde
Their heaviest song.

11. Seen And Not Heard - Beyond Belief
I couldn't leave this one.

I can give you a top 200.

I left off a lot of songs from Beyond Belief and Jekyll & Hyde (my two favorite albums) but other songs I love are Armed And Dangerous, Life As We Know It, All About Who You Know, Creed, I Am On The Rock, and Sacred Trust.

Pick anything from This Means War and Beyond Belief.

That would be a tough list for me, so many to choose from!

Tbh I find BB overrated. My second favorite album is Unseen Power.

Their first three albums did have good lyrics. But overall they don't catch me until the fourth album with Chameleon, For Annie, and Angel of Light

It’s so hard to cull a list of only 10 songs. They have so many great songs. This list might look different tomorrow.

I’m also in the minority because I don’t think Jekyll and Hyde was that great at all. The songs were too short, there were no guitar solos, and the album just didn’t sound like Petra at all.

I like Jekyll & Hyde a lot, but it’s one of my least-played Petra albums. I usually go for something from 81–93.

Jekyll and Hyde was barely Petra, lots of outside influence.

Hard to go with just 10.
